if i was to put some paperback books on what would you say to use as the starting price?
ive got some richard laymon, stephen king and james herbert. looking on ebay most are staring at 99p but havent had any bids. would 50 or 75p be a better starting block?

Don't look at the listing price, look at the complete dlistings as you can see then what sold.
Very few modern paperbacks are worth listing frankly, the odd one or two can be scarce enough to really sell, but to make a profit after ebay and paypal fees is difficult otherwise.

1. check how much money you will make if your book sells for 50p
2. If you look inside your book within the first few pages, before the story starts, it will tell you publishing dates, it will tell you there what year it was published in and what edition it is.
Look for the amazon thread on how to sell second hand books through there as well.
Good luck

With most 'normal' books, it's not the starting price which puts people off, but the postage.
You could start bidding at a penny, but if it would cost £2 to post, it would put people off as you can pick up books so cheaply elsewhere now.
I've got a huge stack of paperback books I no longer want, but I wouldn't dream of selling them on e-Bay, I'm gonna car boot them when they weather gets better

Was just gonna post a query about books on ebay. Seen Harry Potter Order of Phoenix hardback adult version for £3 each BN and wondered if they would sell on ebay at all?0

I have found that some paperbacks do sell on eBay. Books that are listed for 0.01p on Amazon that total £2.76 overall can be sold for about £2.20 overall on ebay. With the lower fees on ebay I make more money from the sale and the buyer gets a bargain! Remember you can list on Amazon for free.I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!0

i think ive got a couple of first editions. looking at the bit where the dates are there is only one date so im guessing that means its a 1st.
ive listed them all now, the postage varies on each of them (ive finally bought some scales) with £1 on top toward packaging which i think is fair. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

Do a search on completed items, they don't seem to be selling very well though. Some of the childs versions are going at 99p brand new.

Most paperbacks seem to have post and packing of about £1.50, so if you've added a pound on top of actual posting costs you may have made your items too dear to sell.
Are your postal prices and start prices comparable to books already sold?

since I saw about Readitswapit on here, I don't sell any books on ebay now, it's just not worth it, due to the postage. I had a couple of books on there, brand new which cost me £6/7 each, but that you can now get in supermarkets for half that, so with a starting bid of 99p (to make 30 odd p profit after all fees) and both sold at just that, and postage(actual costs, no overcharge), ppl could go and pick them up the same night!! Now, I just swap them all.0
