The only thing I have found that consistently gets rid of grease spots, tomato, ketchup and curry stains is the dylon stain remover dabber. You just dab it on before putting in the machine and it works really really well

apart from that I now use Aerial gel but usually about half the amount they suggest.

(hope its ok to put the link on... sorry if not)

Now this may sound a little weird and I haven't tried it - but I'm going to!I saw Vivenne Westwood saying she never washes her bras - she cleans them with talc. I don't know if I would go so far - but I know what she means, some things are never the same again after the first wash. However, she did say it removes grease spots etc etc so I'm going to give it a go (I am chicken so I will put things in the machine afterwards though).

Ordinary Ariel biological, Bold, Surf, always the liquid and never the powder/tabs.
Napisan or some soda crystals in the wash usually did the trick on breast fed poo.

When my kids were small, I always kept my old white nappy bucket in the bathroom. Anything food stained etc, went straight in a bucket of warm/hot soapy water and left to soak overnight. Next morning, wrung out and put in the washing machine . Once stains have 'set', they become more difficult to remove. This method is much than cheaper buying stain removers and washing too often at 60!

I use Daz and only wash with cold water and napisan for towels, bedding and underwear. And only use half the recomended amount of powder.

My sons school shirts (white) lasts years now where by before they lasted months.

    It works!

I used Bold tablets but half amounts on 30 degrees for whites and Aldi colour tablets for the rest.

If anything is very stained I soak in Biotex first, disolved in luke warm water, which can take a day or two but removes everything, including spag bol and ketchup.

I use Fairy non-bio (about half the recommended amount) and usually wash at 30 C. Stubborn stains get the washing-up liquid treatment above, and blood/ingrained mud gets a hot soak in cheap biological detergent. For orange-stained baby clothes, the really ace solution is sunshine - even if white vests are stained with poo after a wash, they come out white when hung to dry in the sun. I know you won't believe me but it works!

I use Tesco sensitive fabric conditioner and non bio washing tablets. We're all allergic to biological stuff, it EVEN gets the grass stains out of the knees of my little boys jeans - good stuff indeed. Think the fabric cond was about 96p and tablets £1.98 for 24. I wash at 30 degrees.

PS When DS was a baby I always wondered why bibs and baby clothes were'nt made in orange fabric rather than white, then the stains wouldn't have shown :)
