help with orange/e2save contracts and sim card
Options
Hi,
Have signed up to one of the orange 1000mins/month for free contract recently on nokia 6230i (through e2save)
What I want to do is this. Give the phone to my wife who currently has a vodafone payg sim. If I can unlock the phone obviously that is fine, if not I want to transfer the number from vodafone to another orange payg sim to be used in that phone.
The orange 1000mins/month sim I am going to put in an older phone to be left at home to make calls on the w/e and evenings
My main question is, if I do all this obviously the new 6230i will not have the sim card that it came with in it. Will this be a problem in claiming the cashback from e2save? I don't want to do all this if it means I lose £240!! Do arange/e2save have a way of checking wht sim card is being used in what phone
Thanks for any help

a) You can do whatever you want with the phone, it won't affect your cashback. I sell many phones on ebay after getting cashback deals
b) the 6230i is probably unlocked already but if not its very easy to do.sloth wrote:Hi,

I got my 6230i this morning and am planning to do something similar, what I have read here on MSE is that some people recomend making a call on the phone with the contract sim in it.
I put the new sim card in the phone and turned it on, a few mins later I got a text message from Orange telling me to turn the phone off and then turn it back on again, I deleted the message, turned the phone off then on again and it worked fine.
The cashback deal with e2save I think is for your 12 month line rental contract with Orange which you can't downgrade during the 12 months, you are free to use the phone as you wish.
I've not checked if the phone is unlocked, it probably is as it doesn't have any Orange branding on it, like my other 6230i mobile which was locked.
hope this helps.Nearly debt free

is your new 6230i a clearance one or brand new? i only ask because i bought the brand new one so wondered if that was orange branded maybe? and therefore locked?
i bought a 6230 (orange branded) through cpw last year on orange which is coming toward the end of the 12 month period. i had tried to unlock it using the trycktill (sp?) application but couldn't do it even though i had previously unlocked a nokia 6100 and 4x nokia 1100 successfully
they tried to deliver today but i am at work so will have to go to the sorting office early tom to pick it up, so sorry for all the questions
thanks0 -
clearance phones already come unlocked
. you can change your phone number on your Orange contract, as long as you pay for the contract and dont downgrade it, you'l recieve your cashback with no probs!

yes you can, all that is required is your bill to be sent off, the Phone is yours to do with as you please for signing up with them for 12 months.0 -
I thought in theory they could ask for the phone back if you broke the contract within the first 12 months?
I don't think it is accurate to say you can do what you like with the phone...
If you are so concerned, ask E2save0 -
