Export of UK Vehicle

I will be driving a family member's car to Serbia, which is not in the EU, for export. I have a few questions regarding this situation.
1) I understand that my insurance does not cover me in Serbia and that I am required to either buy border insurance or provide a green card, does anybody know where I can obtain insurance with a green card that will cover me in Serbia?
2) I will be required to inform the DVLA that this vehicle is for Export and obtain a certificate, which will be used to register the vehicle in Serbia. Will this notification of export invalidate insurance, will I be given new registration plates, or will any other anomalies occur?
3) I mentioned that this vehicle is not in my name and that I will only be the driver, how do I prove to the Serbian border that this vehicle is not stolen and that I have permission to use it? What documents do I require?
4) If I were to not obtain a green card and buy border insurance, surely they would require a policy holder, would it not be odd for them that I am buying insurance for a vehicle that is not in my name, as they don't do insurance on a per-person basis rather a per-vehicle basis.
Thank you in advance.

Surely it would be easier to Insure the vehicle with an Insurance Company in Serbia and extend it to cover you for the UK and Europe.
I've had dealings with this before (Not exporting to outside Europe though), what people normally do is insure the vehicle using the Chassis Number with an Insurance Company in the country they are exporting it to as this will not change rather than the registration number.0 -

I can't insure the vehicle in Serbia without getting there.0 -
Buy another car in Siberia?0

Are you sure as you can normally do it in reverse when you are bringing vehicles into the UK from abroad providing you go through the right processes. Have you asked a Serbian Insurer if they will do this, its often best to try companies with offices near borders or military bases as they tend to have more experience with this.
With regard to proving you have permission to be in possession of the vehicle the log book or a copy along with a letter from the owner giving you permission to drive the vehicle and insurance documents normally help0 -

Unfortunately Serbia is not as developed a country as the UK and they only do insurance over the counter in person, however that is not the greatest of my concerns as I don't mind paying the extortionate fee for border insurance.
I understand that in the UK the log book is sufficient, however I feel that Serbian border officials may not accept a letter with a signature as permission as it is easy to counterfeit, does a legal document for these situations exist or should I just bring as many documents suggesting ownership of this vehicle with me?0 -

This is slightly incorrect.
If you/vehicle owner has the new style V5C registration Certificate (the 2 page multi coloured one with sections numbered 1-11) then all you/they need to do is return Section 11 to DVLA to notify of export.
The rest of the V5C is used as your export Certificate, nothing else is sent by DVLA.
With the rest of your queries it would be advisable to perhaps speak to the relevant authorities or embassy for that country.

I still do not understand why Serbian authorities would register a vehicle without any proof that it is not stolen. Does anybody know if a registration document is sufficient?0 -
I have contacted Serbian authorities and they insist they require some sort of Certificate of Vehicle Export. The DVLA doesn't issue such a document according to a previous reply. I don't know what to do to be honest.0
