You will not believe this but I saw you! I was in the 3rd lane coming southbound literally just after it had happened. I saw you fling the door open and your car was full of smoke or dust perhaps from the airbag which I saw had deployed. You looked really shocked and quite frantic, no surprise, trying to brush something off your face and hair. All the traffic behind was literally just braking really hard and hazard lights were going on.

The other car ended up by the wall, looked dark silver and there was a transit or luton van very nearby I think - I was looking at you mainly.

I'm glad you're okay as can be. Your car was pretty mashed up. All of us going southbound slowed right down together for a good few miles after; I think we all got a bit of a shock too. I spoke about you when I got home.

It's really bad for accidents in that spot. I hate that raised section because of the constant bend and it also feels quite narrow in that section, it feels worse coming southbound for some reason so I think people are a bit more careful on that side.

I got caught about 10 cars behind one in exactly the same spot near enough a couple of years ago and saw the aftermath of another a couple of months ago in the same place as yours. Luckily they didn't seem to be too bad as people can't drive too fast on that section, it's often packed.

Luck you. Dodgy bit of road that, especially in the wet on a winter morning rushhour.

I take it your megane/bmw/lexus/merc or whatever it is is a write off!

twas a Seat Toledo, 53 plate, basically a golf/A3 sized car.

and yep, chassis is a gonner, and again, the crumple zones meant i was able to open the doors and walk out
  • Very lucky escape by the looks of it, I don't think we'd've seen the pics if you were driving something early 90's, I don't think you'd've been here!

Good luck on a swift recovery.

The crumple zones probably saved you from serious damage or even your life.

The ripples down the sides & crushing of the rear & front are designed.

Your lucky you werent in an older car.
