What about comodo. What is peoples opinions on this as they now do it as both a firewall and antivirus in one?

Until I see any properly orchestrated test results id suggest steering clear of the anti virus

    I'm confused.

I use email accounts through hotmail and yahoo. I use internet explorer as my browser.

Which anti-virus programme would be best suited to me. I'm keen to get it sorted soon as I was using AVG which has expired.

    Cheers for any advice

Avira if you can do without email scanning It's free.
Or Kaspersky if you don't mind paying (but it's currently free with Barclays Online Banking if you have it).
If you are connecting to the net without any AV installed at present then you are likely to already be infected. If you can't decide, put Avira on now and you can always change it later if you want.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
