New laptop - security/scans

Hello everybody

I am getting a new laptop and my daughters getting a netobook.

We use AVG 8.5, Ad-Aware and Spybot on this computer, and I have Malwarebytes too.

My question is, which security would I be best downloading onto these laptops? Also how often to do other scans? Do I need CCleaner etc?
If I switch to Avira or Avast, which one will look after e-mails too?
I would appreciate any help! I want to try and keep these laptops in top notch!
I have just had to do a load of scans on my main computer following the remove malware from the sticky!
Thanks!

Avoid AVG, Avira is best but does not have an email scanner. If this is essential to you then use Avast instead.

Your email will not scanned if you do it though your browser. It may get scanned by Virgin though. Use the AVG remove tool http://www.avg.com/download-tools then install Avira Free http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html

    Thanks for the advice.
How often should I do other scans eg, Spybot etc?
    Which e-mail scanner to use?
    Every week?

Your email will not get scanned by any scanner in your browser accept if Virgin scan it as it does not exist on the computer. If you were to download it on Outlook express or Thunder bird it would get scanned by your email scanner.

Do the scans once a week.

If you only use webmail, then you don't need any email scanner (your ISP should take care of the spam angle), so Avira would be my choice.
Unless you have Barclays online banking, in which case Kaspersky is currently available free for up to 3 PC's.

What about comodo. What is peoples opinions on this as they now do it as both a firewall and antivirus in one?

So use Avira then, and the other scans do once a week?
I put Avira on last night, and then deleted it as it asked me to tick loads of boxes, and I was unsure as to what to tick!
Also AVG puts a tick next to the sites on google that it thinks are safe, does Avira do that?
