Metronet - montly usage

We recently switched to Metronet for Broadband with a 419MB limit per month for our £9.99 pay as you go plan. We have been told that this month we have gone over this limit and I am just wondering if this seems likely. We use the internet for email and general internet surfing but we hardly download anything, certainly not music or big files of any description so I am just trying to work out what we might be doing to cause us to go over the limit. Is this a very low limit to try and manage with for an average family?
thanks for any advice.

400MB is fairly low. You should be able to get some idea of when the major data transfers are taking place by logging in to your Metronet area and going to the staistics page https://portal.metronet.co.uk/bandwidth-statistics/index.html (the daily/hourly graphs don't seem to be available ATM - poo!).
Don't worry too much, extra megabytes are cheap! (£2.24 per Gigabyte.)

400mb is next to nothing, I don't know how you're coping!
Try using DUmeter to monitor your usage. It's a simple program that will keep a log of your daily/weekly/monthly usage. It's free for 30 days and then will keep poping up a reminder to register window when you start it, but it'll still work.
If you're using your connection on a regular basis, I imagine you're very likely to keep going over this limit. Can you upgrade to a better package?0 -
Metronet provide Horses Gob statistics as part of the package. 400MB is not a limit, it's just the amount that comes bundled with the connection.

If you have Windows XP and antivirus software doing automatic updates over the internet, 400Mb will soon be used up. As a guide, I use about 100M a day (average) just emailing, surfing and chatting (and Windows XP updating
). 0 -
Down2Home is also freeware. Link http://jitserv.coolfreepage.com/index2.htm0
