Got myself a bargain but seller makes a loss

Hi, Won an auction for an expensive computer book. Got it for £1.04 and paid £2.50 postage.
It came today and its brand new, the cd hasnt even been opened. Turns out he had to send it by standard parcels at a cost of £4.41 so after postage and fees hes probably about £1.20 down.
Im all for getting myself a 0.99p bargain but feel guilty about this. Hes a private seller.
What do you think i should do.
Thanks

Give yourself a pat on the back for being a caring type of person...then move on.
That's the risk of eBay imo, some you win some you dont. It was his choice to list at a low start price.
Edit: If it is really bothering you, you could always send him an extra £1.91 to cover the postage. Depends on how you feel really. If it were me, I wouldn't bother. I'm sure he'll use this as a learning exercise for next time anyway.Herman - MP for all!0 -
That's the way it goes, it might have been an unwanted gift, or he may have picked it up at a car boot sale.0

hi this happened to me i sold some jigsaws on ebay and the postage was higher then expected and in the end it cost me to post them - the lady who recieved them was so pleased with the item she gave me a paypal charge back ( i think thats what it's called) for £1.50 which covered the extra postage, I never asked for it and it was acomplete surprise, it's nice to know there's nice people out there.:beer:0

Thanks, I have a tendancy to overthink things. My OH says leave it too but never take any notice of him, lol. If I was to pay extra, how much would be appropriate?0

If you really want to do something, I'd pay the difference on the postage, so £1.91????0

I won a new computer book a while back for about £3.75 including postage and it cost the seller at least £4 just to post it...
I wouldn't do anything. Shame for the seller but it's their fault for not setting a higher starting price.
Think of the times you've paid over the odds for postage on ebay...
Or the times you've sold something that totally wasn't worth the effort...0 -
How about putting a couple of pounds extra into a charity collection and telling the seller you did so?But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
