  • Bought the magazine today. You need the magazine for a voucher (no photocopies will be accepted) to complete with a unique code that you will be given when phoning. You then need to take along the completed voucher to the performance you have requested. The number is 08712 240 242 which does cost 10p per minute and the call last approx 4 minutes. You are not guarantee your seats so you need to arrive early.
    Hope this helps.

They often seem to do this with the Barbie movies. Perhaps they feel it whips up more interest for the DVD and other merchandising etc. It happened with Fairytopia and Magic of Pegasus.
On Mother's Day last year I took my daughter to see Fairytopia at Vue in Worcester with free tickets from The Times , we live about an hour and a half drive away in Shropshire. When we arrived we realised the cinema doesn't have a car park and it seemed to take ages to find one and walk back to the cinema. My then 5 yr old DD rushed through the streets in her fairy outfit muttering "come on or you'll miss your friends!" to her accompanying Barbie doll.

When we finally arrived we found the film had been cancelled! The staff thought it might have been connected with lack of take up and had apparently been able to contact all but a handful of the wouldbe audience. My daughter promptly burst into tears. To be fair the staff were very kind to her, she was given stickers and allowed to see another movie free of charge - she chose Sponge Bob Square Pants. Her details were taken and a free copy of the DVD was sent to her some days later.

I was still pretty upset when I got home , particularly as it was Mother's Day . I emailed The Times and Mattel (who make Barbie). The customer Service teams in both places were superb. The Times apologised although they had no control over the issue and sent my daughter stickers, pens etc.
Mattel invited my daughter to the 'celebrity' showing of the movie at Kensington Roof gardens and paid for rail tickets to get her there. Grandma very kindly paid for a hotel room and my daughter had an amazing weekend. I don't watch much television and I'm not good at celebrity spotting but I believe that amongst others both Jason Donovan ( sp) and Harry Enfield were there with assorted children.
Apologies for the length of this, it just goes to show that some companies such as Mattel do genuinely care about customer service and are happy to solve a problem if they are politely made aware of it :-)
Nothing in it, nothing in it but a ribbon round it .....
  • pleased it worked out for your little one in the end, must have been stressful on the day though

Damn, I'd already decided not to go for this offer because the OP said it was 'arrive early to avoid not getting a seat' - which I think is a liberty in itself. But your story goes too far, definately not going!

(glad it worked out well in the end though)
