Price INCREASES on Broadband???!!!

My ISP (Supanet) has just advised me that my monthly fee is being increased from £9.99 to £17.99 in line with other increases by suppliers...............??!!
a) can they do this?
b) anyone else learned of any increases coming through?
c) what a bl**dy cheek!

Am seriously thinking of subscribing to Sky and getting the broadband included, especially as my digital tv channels are diminishing thanks to a poor transmitter service.

Mine better ruddy well not go up, it's dodgy enough as it is these days my connection is getting worse everyday.
If they hike up prices, i'm off!
Debt which IS NOW GONE before 31.12.2011: CC - GONE!!! :j Loan: GONE!! :j
  • Tiscali is £14.99 a month. And while many thousands of people seem to moan about them, I have had now problems at all.

Its a case of spending 10p on cheap apple juice and complaining that it tastes cheap.

Tiscali 14.99 rate is what i'm on and up until about 3 weeks ago i've never had a problem in the 8/9 years i've been with them; I hope it's just a temporary glitch cos I really don't want to have to change providers. boooo.

I have had Tiscali for 18 months now and it has been very reliable. £14.99 for the broadband and line rental. Only 2Meg but very stable at that, never seems to drop, maybe because it's LLU.
  • I wouldn't pay £17.99 - mine (Orange!) is effectively £5 pm as free for 6 months, then £9.99 for the remaining six. Although have to have a landline with this so that puts the price up. It's usually fine ... Vote with your feet!

Yes... it'll be in the terms that you agreed to, and they should also have a claus stating that if you do not agree, you can cancel within 14 days (or whatever it may be), if you do not agree - so can get your MAC from them

No one likes prices going up, but no one complains when they go down, even if it cuts their margins and perhaps the quality of the product (but only then would you complain - but you get what you pay for).

  • Thanks folks - gonna check with the Customer Service and see where i stand with ending my contract ( i think it has passed the period where i would be in default). Currently lookinng at other options - BT and, Sky.

As for Tiscali, at £14.99, there's still room for them to make an increase which would negate the saving i might make, and then commit myself to a similar ISP monthly cost. I may consider staying for a month or two with the increased rate, before moving to a better long-term option (assuming i am out of my initial contract period).

    Don't need this hassle!!!

If you're in contract, and miss the jump out date, you'd have to serve to remainder of the contract or pay the remainder of the contract... if you're not in contract, then that's fine...
