    I've been Money Tipped!

I'm starting to see a slight smattering of boIlocks here.

Egg is (and always was) an internet bank.

Yet we have posts saying that emails haven't been received. Emails are how Egg tell their customers stuff.

If you're not getting emails, it's not their fault.

That's a pretty insulting thing to say - I did NOT receive the e-mail. I have a positive balance, logging in, there is no secure message waiting for me. I get all of the Egg marketing e-mails plus the one each month to tell me my statement is ready. I do not have anything sitting in my junk folder.

Don't presume that I am a liar for stating facts that are appropriate to me - I simply wanted to see if others had also NOT received the message. After all, Egg has previously treated its customers differently in its decision making so wondered if it was the same now in this situation.

I am not looking for wriggle room, I am purely attempting to get an idea of how many others did not get the mail. I have already started to migrate my positive balance elsewhere anyway so will not even bother to contact them about it.

Please, try not to jump to conclusions - we are not all devious liars you know:rolleyes:.

It'll have been sent to the email address they have on file. Your ESP's mail filtering will have no effect on whether the changes take place, nor will any change in your mail address if you haven't informed them.

4% is showing on mine (I got the mail) - have a look on the change date.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been delivered to my email. My ISP doesn't handle my email, as it's hosted by my web hosting firm, which doesn't stop suspected spam email (it's just tagged SPAM for my email client to deal with...).

In addition, it's supposed to drop to 0.5% from the 24th of April according to the mail, right?

Gents, just remember that while we have the same card, we are all on different rates and deals. Likewise, some may not be affected by the loss of interest etc.

How rude! I have received several emails from Egg in the past couple of weeks, including emails telling me that my statement is ready and containing information about discount offers, etc. However, I have not received any email advising me of changes to the Terms and Conditions of my Egg Money Card.

I cannot find any link on their regular web site which leads to the information page about changes to Egg Money. You need to have received the email in order to access that link.

So if this failure to communicate is not Egg's fault, whose is it?

You may have a point here, because it's now 27th April and the interest rate on my Egg Money screen is still showing 4% for positive balances. Has it changed to 0.5% on anyone's screen yet?

  • I haven't received an e-mail but I did get a letter in the post about a week ago.
  • I never received an email (to work address) despite getting all other egg correspondance. But I did receive a letter. End of 4% too good to last.

Still says 4% on my account, but I promise you they will be paying you 0.5%!

Finally cleared my balance in full on this card today and I'm glad to see the back of it. They kept stopping my card over christmas when I was trying to buy christmas presents, had to keep contacting them to reactivate it then they decided they wouldn't reactivate it, all of a sudden and without warning decided to refuse to pay my broadband subscription which has been paid on the card for the last 2 and half years. Accused me of being in financial difficulty for exceeding the credit limit by £8!, and passed my account to the 'collections' team. It was the first time I'd ever gone over the limit since I had the card. They kept phoning and harrassing me by letter and phone even on phone numbers I didn't give them to ring. All despite the fact I had NEVER missed a direct debit payment on the card in my life and my "£8 mistake" was paid back within 2 days and the account brought back £500 within the credit limit. Finally stopped pestering me but blocked the card entirely and said I had to continue my regular direct debit payments. Well duh, !!!!!! have I not paid my direct debits?.

They used to be the best card company out there by a long way with all its benefits and hassle free account management. Since citigroup took over and the recession they have been an absolute shambles. Every 3 months they have made this card worse, raising interest rates, withdrawing free cash advances and the latest is removal of the credit interest and an increase in the minimum fee for cash machine use to £5.

Make the most of the 1% cashback becaus its pretty much a dead cert that that won't be there by the summer. I shall never take a card out with this firm ever again!.

Rotten Egg has never been a more fitting name for this shower of excrement!.

I have experienced the same problems with transactions being rejected. Up until the end of last year I have never had these fails but now EGG cust service claim that I am on the standard security level, meaning that I was being treated the same as everyone else. I really doubted this but after seeing bargains post above, it looks like I am not alone in getting extremely inconvenienced. Maybe this is their way of getting rid of customers who pay their balance every month?
I am now looking into taking out an Argos card. They also has a reward card that pays at least 1%(albeit as argos vouchers)
