Currently looking to have a 16ft by 8ft deep extension, two glass sides with a proper roof which has skylights fitted. We have tried a local company but they wanted 40k:eek::eek::eek::eek: just to supply the glass alone which would mean we still ahve to pay a builder to dig footings, build walls, take the external wall down that is currently there etc etc.
Ive seen them on grand designs and perhaps 40k is the going rate and if thats the case we will have to look and building a normal extension with large glass doors Can anyone reccomend a company to ask or look further into it.
i;ve included a couple of pictures to show what i'm trying to explain.

I'll have a look in one of my magazines for you for the company that advertises glass rooms, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if specialist glass for something like that cost that much.
You could look into having someone design you something really lovely with skylights and huge folding sliding doors. At least as a cost comparison.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

hi doozergirl havent seen your postings around for a while.... yes found a couple of websites with some lovely designs etc but its the cost:eek:, for a 20ft by 10ft a company wanted near on 55k just for the glass box, the footings, walls to be knocked down etc are all extra  shame as the company looks if they really specialise in this sort of thing and they are in the same town as i live in but too expensive for us. http://www.glasspace.com/about_us.php:rolleyes:
found a good site here with lots of designs. http://www.findaproperty.com/displaystory.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&storyid=9585Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

i'll have a look, managed to speak to a local builder who has looked over my 3D plans and has given me a rough estimate of 20-23K for all materials, labour, building work etc.:pListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

Hi there Stolt,
I posted the same question a while back too and got no reply. What my DH and I are looking for is a 2 storey extension with glass or part glass/part red brick. We live in Scotland.
Please let me know how you get on and I wish you all the best. I'll be mailing you to get some tips:beer:0 -

Hi Stolt,
I know you posted this last year but could you let me know how the whole process worked out for you and what you ended up paying for your glass extension? We are looking at doing exactly the same thing as you did (same approx. size too) and have been quoted £48.5k + VAT from one of the main glass companies. Did you end up using Glassbox and did they come in a lot cheaper?
Many thanks.0
