Requesting PAC code before end of contract?

Hi everyone, am in the process of leaving Network 3 I have until Sep before my contract is up. Just signed up with O2 & want to port my number over.

Before I wait in a queue to speak to someone at 3, is it likely they will give me the PAC code without requiring me to pay off the existing contract term amount? I just have a feeling they might not give it so easily...

Also, a few days ago I called them to knock my tariff down to a lower level which cost me £20 to make the change (down to approx £15/mth, am currently paying £30 +). The plan was just pay up each month til the end of the contract as either way, I want to ditch network 3 as they are such a pain!! (been with them 3 yrs).

Anyone had any similar experiences with them/other providers? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they will certainly want you to pay up the contract until September, as that is what you signed up to. Are you sure that when they agreed to reduce your monthly payment, that they didn't start that as a new 12 or 18m contract? They will usually only downgrade your package in the last 3 months of a contract.

Yes am absolutely certain that it didn't start a new contract term as I asked them about this & it doesn't affect the end date which is Sep 09.
I paid £20 to go switch to the lower tariff- worked out cheaper than hanging on to the current one.

I am resigned to paying it all off to ensure I can keep my number & port it to my new network, but I guess I'd have to pay it in any case whether it was over months or all in one go.

You'd have to pay it whether you wanted to port your number or not. Since you have to pay it anyway, you might as well keep it until the contract expires and use the minutes you're paying for.
