Network Porting - Confused
Options
I'm currently on a Vodafone 18 month pay monthly contract which ends at the start of May. I'm paying £30 a month but hardly use the phone. I now want to go PAYG. But I'm confused as to what my options are.
I hate the phone I've got so I would want to change that. I think my current phone Vodafone locked.
I had no problems with the Vodafone network and need good coverage when I visit my parents who live out in the country. I think my Mum has problems and she's on Orange.
I need to keep my current phone number.
Can I move onto Vodafone PAYG or am I forced to move networks?
The cheapest price plan I can see is probably ASDA which uses the Vodafone network but I'm not sure if I can port my current number to them.
Can someone please clarify?

You should be able to tell vodafone you do not want to continue with the monthly plan (30 day notice) and could they put you on a pay and go plan - they should let you do that no problem.
Then you just continue with vodafone - if you find some other network - then you can ask vodafone for PAC code to transfer the number to the other network.
Before your contract ends - ring up vodafone ans ask them for the phone unlock code.
I didnt think vodafone locked their phones to their own network but if they do then you should get it unlocked if u want to use that phone on another network in future.0
