I am doing up a whole house in Northants and am paying one plasterer with 35 yrs experience £250 per room cash! It takes him 2 days per room.
We have done all the stud work and are putting up plasterboard oursleves so he is just skimming all walls and ceilings.
The rooms are v.large as it is a 1930's property.
And I thought the £600.00 we paid recently to have our Victorian terraced bedroom, skimmed was reasonable. He had to plasterboard the ceiling first plus he added coving. He's done a great job and it only took 2 days. Original quote was £400.00 but the plasterboarding ceiling added an additional £150.00. We're still very happy with the price and result.

£300 a day labour is at the high end, but if you got a high end finish then i suppose it's worth it, i doubt you would have rather got a cheap price with a cheap finish.

To be honest though, labour wise i think his original £400 price was nearer the mark.

Some tradesmen measure a job like this and give you a price based on the per meter squared area, this is the fairest way i find, others will scratch their head and guess-timate the price based on how long he thinks it will take, the second method is sporadic, you can end up with a bargain if he under guess-timates but can equally end up paying too much if over guess-timates.

P.S Seems VERY expensive but without the m2 I can't be assed lol!!

Give the OP a break, jeez. How would he know plastering is most easily costed by the square metreage? He came here for advice, not to get flamed...
