Hi all. Been into sat tv for a long time and am always looking for a good deal. Noticed in tesco that they are selling Sky+ HD boxes for £199. The ad one the box says "Sky+ HD with out the subscripion".
Now to be honest I know sky give nowt away so am skeptical about this deal.
Anyone know what the fine print is? IE: If you dont pay them money they disable the Sky+ bit and the HD? I wouldnt put it past them.
Thanks all.

I reckon you will get the BBC and ITV HD service as they are free, but not a lot else.
The Discovery, Nat Geo, History, Sky Movies and Sports HD channels are all sub based so wouldn't expect to see them for free.
(Unless the package / box has a sub included for the £199)0 -
Sky plus HD with no subscription? I though Sky+ didn't work without a subscription? What's the point? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

If Tesco are selling Sky + HD boxes for £199 then thats £150 more than Sky are selling them for !!!, of course with Sky you have to take a HD sub (£10/month) to add to whatever TV package price you already pay.
A couple of years ago I bought a Sky HD box ( cost about £200 from an authorised Sky seller ,as my ordinary Sky box was bust and Sky wanted £60 to replace it with a recon Sky box ) I dont have to pay a HD sub because I didnt get the box discounted from Sky, I would think the Tesco offer is just the same...£200 but no need to pay Sky an extra £10 a month for whatever the minimum term is.
A call to Sky got them to pair my HD box to the Sky card,
Without a HD sub you only get BBC HD, Channel 4 HD and a shopping channel Luxe TV only, no ITV HD0 -
When your box gets the new EPG you will be able to add ITV HD as an "other channel" but it will not be listed on the channel guide0

Thanks all. Just found this on tesco direct...A Sky+HD box can bring your HD Ready TV to life by offering up to 4 times the picture detail of standard TV and incredibly vibrant colour. For 2 months you’ll be able to try great entertainment from Sky TV; including Sky Sports HD1 and Sky Movies HD1, and you won’t need to miss a moment with features like being able to record, pause or rewind TV or even record an entire series at the touch of a button as part of your trial. Professional standard installation is also included, and the Sky+HD box, minidish and remote are yours to keep forever. After 2 months, you will continue to receive Sky TV 4 pack, Sky Movies 1, Sky Sports 1 (£37) and HD pack (£10) for £47 / month. Let us know before your 2 month trial is up if you no long wish to receive Sky TV. You will still be able to watch over 200 free digital channels including BBC HD and Channel4 HD which are available without subscription. You will need a Sky+ subscription to continue enjoying Sky+ recording features. Sky+ features free if you continue to receive Sky TV. Sky+HD needs to be connected to an active telephone for 12 months. Compatible TV and home cinema system required. Please note that you will receive the Sky+HD box, minidish and remote when it is installed When you order this product you will receive a pack with your unique reference code. You will need this code to organise the installation of your Sky+HD box and minidish.
Just as I thought. A pile of garbage with misleading advertising!

Not a standard Freesat box as you can still watch BBC HD and C4HD0

Ooooo Picky!
Ok... a freesat HD box - with the probability of no ITV HD - that has no PVR facitlities.
There that better for ya?
Even so still a rip off as you have a bit of kit there that you own outright that only half works as the other half is held to ransom by R. Murdoch ESQ.
