propagating Herbs

I'm having a go at planting a herb garden and want to propagate some of my existing herbs in other parts of the garden. I've got a large curry plant and large rosemary, as well as lots of lavender dotted around.
Is it just a case of taking a cutting and applying root hormone?
Also does anyone recommend any online reasonable herb suppliers as I would like to build up the garden with as much variety as poss.
TIA

Rosemary is actually very easy to get to root - I've never had a need for growth hormone. I pick a young shoot about 10-15 cm long and strip the bottom 3-4cm and put it in water and place in a sunny warm spot. You should see some roots in about a week or so
let them establish a little before planting on and viola! Rosemary plant
Ditto lavender but it can be harder to get going and might be worth trying growth hormone. No idea about curry plant - sorry

I've tried propagating lavender and sage with and without hormone powder. It doesn't seem to make a difference.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I hate to say it, but Jekka McVicar has about the best selection:

She's lovely on the telly. Not quite so lovely if you touch anything at plant fairs!!:rotfl:0 -

Umm... i've had my shoots in water for 2 weeks now and nothing! When you say strip the bottom.. do you mean just the leaves or the stem too? thanks.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190
