Have a look on Novatech, they do nice bundle deals.

Barebones Bundle - Intel Dual Core E5200 2Gb DDR2 800MHz RAM MATX Mboard 4 Bay Midi ATX Tower Case With 400W PSU

    XFX GeForce 8800GT "Alpha Dog" SLI 512MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI PCI-Express - Retail

Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB 16Mb Cache Hard Drive SATAII 300MB/s <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM

Comes to £268. With Free standard delivery.

They will probably install the VGA card and HDD in the case for you, this just leaves fitting you old optical drive/s and installing Windows. Which is something you are probably going to have to do anyway.

Your psu and case may be ok - depends on what connectors your psu has - newer m/boards have a 24 pin and a 4 pin connector older psu may only bo 20 pin and no 4 pin -you can get 20 to 24 adapters

You probably will need a new HDD unless your old one is SATA which looking at the list above I don't think it is.

You can run 2 IDE devices on the one port on the new MBoard but that won't get the best of the new hardware.

    You're looking at needing:

    Motherboard
    RAM
    Processor
    Graphics Card
    PSU
    Possbibly a new case too.

    Do you have a budget?

And a new operating system... The recoveries for your computer will not work with a different motherboard (Because it's OEM [tiny] you won't be able to transfer the licence either)

if you mean, the backup disk, i won't be using that, as i'll be backing up the software i want to transfer on to the 500gb external hard drive, and keeping the new hard drive clean. plus i have no idea where teh back up disc would be,

The OS licence ties in with the motherboard it was registered with, this means you can replace other things such as hard drives, graphics cards ect. OEM licences aren’t transferable either :(

However... try it. Also if you do use the recoveries/ reinstall disks and it troughs up failed windows validation, then try entering the 25 digit code on the side of your pc. Because most of the computers are made in bulk the code that’s on the recoveries will be different from the one on the case (as they seem to just slap them on after) and most of them have never been activated before ;)

But if not then yeah you will need a new OS.

No back up disks = no way of re-installing windows.
