    Yes, exactly ;) MSE thread is fantastic and I think so many loved it and then joined the forum to get more ideas etc.

    I loved the chabby chic thread and the pictures people posted of their finished articles were absolutey fab.

    I just thought it was all a bit eye candy with not much that 'normal' people can relate to. I wonder how these people get on the telly.....

    Most people would know to dive in skips????

    Just feeling a tad jealous..........

    I was hugely disappointed - she tried something for 5 minutes then got someone else to do it for her, no practical tips and all v £££.

    Though I did feel smug when I went up to bed and looked around the room - bed, wardrobe and bedsde table all ebay junk finds restored, homemade curtains in cheap fabric, antique linen on the bed and all done ourselves and on a budget.

    I watched it, I'll watch anything with Kirsty in, just to see what shoes she's wearing, lol.
    I agree it was a bit shallow, but the idea that you can use cheap & cheerful stuff & mix it to your choice, not follow a design is a good one. I expect it was aimed at a specific audience, the sort of people who don't have the confidence to try their own ideas out.
    I did like the cushion covers, I made mine exactly the same way, but with fabric leftover when altering curtains for someone. I didn't but cushion pads, I used some old pillows that had gone a bit flat.

    I also noticed that not only was someone else making her curtains etc (with no tips for the viewer) but when the extra cushions arrived then the one that Kirsty was supposedly done suddenly had different buttons so I now wonder if she really made anything at all.
  • I loved it in the way rachb mentions, feeling smug that I do much of it already.

    However, on the whole, I don't think it was for OS'ers like us, but rather a programme that tries to communciate a number of themes (which is probably its downfall)

    developing an individual style that's not based on what's simply on the High Street
    using local craftsmen
    buying second-hand/ re-using things

    Hopefully the programme will be the first step for many to be become OS'ers (I think its' an additction one can get hooked on!0
