Almost certainly your problem is caused by a large piece of software called... Windows..
(Pause for flames..)
Move to Linux: Free, faster, usually more secure, fewer daft ****ers trying to infect/hack/destroy it. No, really free, zero ££..
Sigh... OK have it your way..
Cheers & Best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me...

Spyware Doctor and AVG are known for slowing down computers
STEAM isnt needed at startup so id stop that
Im more concerned about all these running ~
C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
Its a legit windows file but you have WAY more than usual
Please run COMBOFIX
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be)
If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe'):idea:0 -

Wendy_Ann: Saw your comments...
You are experiencing what fun it is to have Windows/Vista: However Linux (I run Ubuntu.. see.
http://www.ubuntu.com/
) is as you say different and would be new stuff to learn and all that.
Do you have a spare computer (even an old slow one?? - particularly one with the Software all screwed up)?? If so you could try it... it is however a bit techie... You can try most by simply booting off the CD (doesn't change what's on your computer..) and play with it first. As always with all things IT though.. follow the 3 golden rules,,,,
i) TAKE A BACKUP FIRST..
ii) Take another backup
iii) Take another backup AND STORE IT IN ANOTHER BUILDING!
Best of luck & I hope the "Curse of Bill G" gets sorted sometime soon..

PS a) Saw Bill speak once: All ummmss and errs.. & I thought "How can someone this big do that" then I realised he can do whatever he wants...
b) I Worked in IT for 35yrs+ (Mainly management, not technical for many years..). Suffice to say Windows has created SHEDLOADS of work for me & many others for years & years! Thanks Bill!!0
