PC started running slow

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before but can some one help.
Ive had my Dell desktop about 2yrs and it has always been fairly fast but in the past few weeks it has really slowed down on start up and shut down, ive also noticed that the spyware start up report box won't close down if i press the 'x' and today i did an update and everything has gone 'boxy' like the old pc's (not very vista like, sorry cant think of how to explain properly) thats probably a really easy thing to fix but my brain seems to be a bit mushy today

any help greatly appreciated

Yup. Download the hijackthis installer http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download install it,open it if its not already then press "Do a system scan and save a logfile", after its finished the logfile will open in notepad, copy and paste the contents of the file back here in your next reply.

i'm guessing that the theme has been changed causing the 'boxy' look.

tried changing the theme and the only options are 'boxy', im sure there used to be more options, there's just 3 now

yup, checked again and the vista theme seems to have disappeared since i did an update earlier which i really dont understand as it was only a security update

Download Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloading install Ccleaner make sure to deselect anything to do with Yahoo. Once its installed open it, close all browsers and press run cleaner. After that to go tools>startup and disable anything to do with Samsung, Google, Adobe, Steam and anything else you don't need starting up with the computer you need to keep important things like the antivirus starting up.
