Norwich Union still advertising name change

I have just seen a 2 minute Norwich union advert - advertising their name change. This compaign has been going for over 2 months now, and it's frightening to think of how much money they have frittered away - especially as so many different celebrities appear in the advert.
If I was considering a Norwich Union product, I would seriously think twice. They have a lot of money to recoup.

LOL true and doesn't Elle McPherson say "Don't treat me like an idiot" ? and still they insist on telling us 1000 times that they've changed names ! We get it !!!Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3

Not much more than normal. If I was considering a Norwich Union product, I would seriously think twice. They have a lot of money to recoup.
Not really. The budget for a global company the size of them of Aviva is peanuts. Whilst I understand their reasons for the name change, I don't like it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. 2 months? They've been telling us for the last 2 years! Maybe that'll be a good signature for me! :rotfl: Just to tell everyone who doesn't already know!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Companies always take ages to do this? When jiff changed to cif it took forever, they just had both logos on packaging for years - it's a bit harder for NU seeing as they dont sell insurance off the shelf in Tesco (at least i dont think so!)0

Ironically, the Tesco own branded life and pension plans were, up to a few years ago, cut down versions of the NU product and NU did the back office stuff.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This totally useless, waste of money campaign is costing NINE MILLION POUNDS.
Only in these hard times would a "financial service" fritter away such a vast amount of money on a pointless exercise.
One advert shows that well-known "musician", Ringo Starr saying "where would I be as plain Richard Starkey".
Ten minutes later in another advert he`s saying "don`t call me by my stage name".
A complete contradiction, which makes the whole campaign look ridiculous.
AVIVA
thought it was a bus company, maybe not, but they are certainly taking people for a ride by squandering £9 million!0 -
9 million might sound a lot to you but to a company with £50+ billion in turnover its a drop in the ocean. Plus Aviva is a financial services company doing well even in these times - they mainly insure and save/ invest clients money.Living the good life spending all my money but loving it!!0

One of my relatives works for Norwich Union.
They're wasting even more money by giving every member of staff a DVD of the advert and apparently, the coaches who work with India are reporting that the staff there are having trouble even pronouncing the name (something to do with the "v"s).
I think they'd rather that Aviva kept the DVDs and stopped making people redundant0 -
And at a £11.2bn loss it does seem a complete waste of money they can't afford to spend - http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2009/03/06/53274/uks-aviva-sparks-sector-sell-off/
Let alone the poor staff - they are shedding 1100 jobs - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7979259.stm0
