3 Network in Australia

I have just been on the phone to 3 customer services to cancel my contract as I am moving to Australia. They told me that I didnt need to cancel as there is a 3 network over there and my calls and texts would not be charged at a higher amount.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Seems a bit suspicious to me??

It is true aslong as you stay on the 3 network within Australia, your main issues are that the 3 coverage whilst roaming from 3UK is pretty much limited to the major cities and the minutes and texts will only be valid for calls and texts back to UK numbers NOT Australian numbers.

If you are moving there for good id say there are better options for you such as Yes Optus and Telstra (like BT)
