phone/gps suggestion advice needed

Could anyone suggest a model of either a phone or pda with inbuilt gps please. Do not mind paying for the maps but not an ongoing data charge.
The odd bit of web surfing would be nice as well. Any ideas please.
Looked at a Blackberry but you are stuck with data charges for the gps and have looked at HP's and HTC's but either bad screen or bad keys.
Now thinking of an iphone but if you google you can find software queries.
Shall I give up for another year or so and 100 more models down the line...
