broadband, without the phone line

Does anyone know which companies offer this? I live in a new build and don’t want to shell out £120+ for a phone line which I will never use!
I know Virgin do this but only if you are in a fibre optic area which we are not so this is no good.
I'm guessing the answer is no and also the answer to who else could fit the line for me would be no one which seems a complete rip off. Is this not considered a monopoly and other companies should be able to offer this!?
Anyway a feel a rant coming on even before anyone has answered my question!
Help please

Mobile broadband with a dongle might be your best bet if you get reasonable 3G coverage. There have been lots of deals about lately but what the price per Mb you pay when you go over your limit.0

So you're suggesting a company could lay infrastructure throughout the country, including to your front door that would then provide a broadband connection without the need for a phoneline or cable connection and be cheaper than the current options?
The fact is the phone line is what is carrying the broadband connection, there is no way around it, a single company laid that infrastructure many moons ago is the only factor. It's probably a lot simpler than each ISP that starts up digging up every single road in the country to lay a new line to everyones door.0 -
Mobile broadband uses the mobile phone network, so does not need a landline, cable, WiFi hotspot etc. You just need a dongle to put in your PC. It is possible to get prepaid dongles from 3 Network, you could try the 3-month version to test the speed. It just stops working when you have used your allowance, and there is no need for contracts and direct debits etc. It is rather like fast dialup. There are many bad reviews, but I am happy with it.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Look at the many threads on here relating to current BT promotion for discounted or free line install-however make sure you are aware of the contract requirements that come with this.No free lunch, and no free laptop
