    Hi Nafta

Do you know why you've been turned down? I moved to the UK in 2002 and when I went to get a contract phone, because I didn't have three years of addresses in the UK, they took a £75 security deposit from me [which was refunded 12 months later]. Could you try that?

Orange definitely uses Experian because when I had my credit report from them, the Orange search showed up.

Before applying for any more contracts though, wouldn't it be wise to get copies of your credit report to see if there are any errors on it that might be preventing you from being accepted?

You can get 30 day free trials from Experian –

Remember to cancel it before the 30 days are up [you can do this by phone] or you'll be charged a fair amount of money!

Orange do use Experian. If they see anything they don't like on there you can certainly expect Orange to ask you for a security bond which is returnable after 12 months

nafta, when you tried to get a contract with Vodafone, o2 and T-mobile, what was the time limit between applying for these contracts? It has been suggested that if you get turned down after a credit search you shouldn't get another credit search done. This is because each time your credit history is searched, you lose some points, leading to a lower "good" (if lots of searches are done then maybe you will have a poor) credit history.

As briona has suggested get a copy of your credit history to maybe see the cause of your poor history, although you may already know some information, such as not paying your bills on time, having large loans or high credit card debts??? etc... Maybe you should just stick to PAYG. Another solution would be, to get a contract phone in your parent's/families'/relatives'/partner's name and then pay them back so that you got a contract phone.
