Help - Help!!!
I have a problem - probably self inflicted - I followed a link on Yahoo website to upgrade to ie8 - I tried to install and got a box say something like - Internet Explorer 8 has not installed -When I used ie7 I found it still there but corrupted in such away that all my pictures were replaced by red crosses - I googled ''repair ie'' and was told to uninstall ie7 to resolve this problem - I did this and things seemed to be ok - my pics were back and it seemed ok.
This morning when I booted up however ie6 would NOT start - It showed the hourglass then nothing.
I put mozilla on so I could use the web but I REALLY DISLIKE IT.
So how can I get ie7 back.
I googled ''repair ie'' again and found various suggestions including removing then reinstalling ie6, THEN upgrading to ie7.
Ie6 removed ok but when I downloaded the ie6 and tried to install it it said -'' a previous version has pending work requiring a reboot. You will need to restart your computer before running Internet Explorer setup. Set up will now close''.
I rebooted repeatedly but it still happens.
WHAT DO I DO NOW???

Stick with Firefox. Or try Opera or Google Chrome.
You can easily import your IE bookmarks to these, and you can change the look with skins and add features with Add Ons......0 -

THAT IS NOT the question I asked - although I appreciate your opinion PLEASE stick to the problem.0 -
Out of intrest, what do you find wrong with firefox?Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Which version are you trying to install at the moment, 6 or 7?0

Anything would be nice - Why -Why did I muck about with it in the first place -
I just want it to be sorted -
What I DO NOT want is prompts to stay with other browsers OR
questions about why I don't like them - I've tried them all and I just don't like them - that's MY choice - so NO more prompting to change unless I have to 'cos I can't get ie back..0 -

Which version have you downloaded and tried to install which gave you the error message you posted a short while ago?0 -
ie 6 gave the error message - So I put in my xp disk a few minutes ago and installed again from that under ''componants'' - It SAID it had installed but no luck when I clicked the icon- so I decided i had nothing to lose and downloaded ie7 again and I THINK - this has worked - All I can say is DO BE CAREFUL ABOUT UPGRADING TO IE8 - I am sticking to ie7 -Which version have you downloaded and tried to install which gave you the error message you posted a short while ago?
Thanks for your interest to those who sought to help me
- and please STOP IT to those who don't help at all in solving the problem, but simply evangelize for their own favourite programs - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE -
that's NOT what this board is about and is simply time wasting.0 -
