Suggestion to split "old style" into two new boards

I definitely wouldn't like to see OS split up. For people coming here to save money, the vinegar threads are just as relevant as the cooking threads, its all part of OS.

I definitely would not like to see OS split up, I think it will lose it's erm, how do I explain it, essence is perhaps the best way. It will be fragmented and it just wont be the same. Please leave it as it is, thanks to the hard work of the board guides it is easy to find things.

Sorry, but I don't see why we should split a board up just because someone isn't interested in some topics.

If we do that for one person then everyone will want it split to suite them. I'd want the cooking board split into vegetarian and non vegetarian. If a meal hasn't got meat in it then it's not a meal, so I have no interest in vegetarian cooking.

I also don't like curries, so the non veggie board would have to be further split into curry & non curry board.

Now I think about it, I have gas, so we'd have to split it into cooking with gas and cooking with electricity too! With sub boards for remoskas and halogen ovens just to keep everybody happy.

I'm not for one minute suggesting it is or could or should be done because I would like it.

I just feel that I am a cook big time & home cooking is very fashionable/trendy/on-the-up at the moment, but I have no interest in old-style cleaning &/or crafts & I figured some others may feel like that & I added a poll to see if others did.

I do believe its what this board is for;), the clue is in "suggestions".

In the other post I started in OS, the first few posts were very positive.
If the majority of people don't like it then thats good, shows its sucessful. If however a majority of people would like cooking removed then perhaps MSE would consider it.

I'm sorry, but when I read you saying "I love the cooking side of it" and then in another post "I have no interest in old-style cleaning &/or crafts" after suggesting the board should be split into cooking and "everything else", it really does sound to me like you just want it split into the bit you like and everything else in another board.

Yes but what about the vast majority of people who ignore polls? You won't be getting their opinion, will you? Just as there are people who aren't interested in OS Cleaning, or veggie cooking, there are people who are not interested in polls.

Should we assume that people who don't vote in your poll are against your suggestion? After all, they can't be in favour of it if they don't take a moment to click a button.

I don't want to fight, I'm simply expressing my opinion. I thought having a poll was all about canvassing for opinions?
