I re-read my post and it meant to say when there was the first redunancies I got kept on (took voluntary the second time round)!
Sounds like you have a good shot, keep your nerves at your one-to-one and hopefully you'll be ok. Redundancies are rubbish but can sometimes be a blessing (the time I took voluntarty) - that was why had to clarify what I meant, cos I'm in a great job now!0 -
Heyyy check me out =
I'm going to Chester Zoo on Saturday with my friend...usually when we go somewhere we stop for breakfast on the way but this time I have told her I will pick her up AFTER BREAKFAST!!
And my breakfast will be a bowl of half price Crunchy Nut Clusters that I bought with a coupon someone put through my door. I am also going to take a drink with me
Found out today that we are moving offices next Thursday/Friday.
Which is RUBBISH and I will try to explain why:
At the moment I live 30 mins from work...the site we are moving to is 5 minutes from where I live. Which is good....but...
The day we "go live" from the new offices will be the first day of living at my Mum's which is 1hour away
Sigh.
Good news though is if I get made redundant I will get redundancy pay because they have "enhanced" the terms and conditions to include people who have been here for more than 1 year (it is usually 2) :j0 -
Hi Catherine,
That sounds really delicious! I've got a Tuna salad for today, so I can guarantee I'll be hungry within about 30mins of eating it! I think sandwhiches/pasta are the better option for me....
That's really rubbish about your work moving, is there anyone you can share lifts with? I'm the same as I have to do a 45 min journey into work every morning, I just live in the back of nowhere!
Good news about redundancy pay, but hope it all goes ok for you!
Keep us updated :T xxxxJune NSD's - 5/25

There isn't anybody I can share lifts with really. I don't mind the journey - it's all country roads and lambs and fields and nice stuff
and if I keep my job I'll def be able to afford the petrol - I'll have £500 spare a month at least!!! (that's if I can curb my 'spending money on food' habit;)) So I'll save up for a more environmentally friendly car.
Just had my free McDonalds. Yuuuummmmm scrum. I feel like I'm gonna burst though! I had a tuna roll yesterday - tuna is awesome! Especially with loooads of mayonnaise, mmm
We all have to start clearing our desks soon. It's gonna be sad because the office is covered in photos and posters, it's really personalised, so once things start going it will be very bare.
Oh well, maybe I'll be able to "borrow" some spare boxes then my house move will be cheaper!0 -
Morning!
The 1st person got told they are being made redundant yesterday
it has begun!
I'm gonna get told either today, Tuesday or Wednesday. My workmate who applied for voluntary redundancy is getting told her redundancy figure this morning and has to make her decision about whether to go or not, I think.
ARrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh scary mary :wall: I hope I don't cry if I get told I have to leave! That would be so embarassing!!
No I'll be fine...I applied for quite a good job yesterday, if I get an interview I'll dazzle them with my charm and enthusiasm then I'll get a new job closer to where I'm going to live wooohhoooo.
If not then I'll get the summer off! And apparently it will be a "barbeque summer" this year so I can go and lounge in parks and stuff
Better to be unemployed in the summer than the winter, methinks.
Right, I shall update every time I hear something! Must crack on pretending to be really busy and a "valuable member of the team" :rotfl:0 -
Oh no Catherine - I've got my fingers crossed for you!
Hope everything turns out ok and then you can BBQ to your hearts content - I like that you're looking at the positives
I just had a McDonalds breakfast (bought in my a lovely member of my offie to celebrate the fact that it's Friday) and it's fair to say I feel a little bit ill now - I'll just try to sit quietly and write some press releases!
Keep us updated

I know the feeling! I had a free McDonalds yesterday and I felt ill for hours afterwards! Luckily OH made me a nice healthy omelette and salad when I got home so it made me feel better

I have got chicken and salad wraps today, yum
I'm trying to put lunch off for as long as I can though, my day seems to go faster if I have lunch late, for some reason?
How was the tuna salad yesterday?0 -
News Flash!
One of my work mates is going to accept voluntary redundancy.
Now I must not get excited. Well, I can't because she's my best friend and after July I won't be working with her anymore
There are still more buts...
I don't know if being told what your redundancy pay will be means the company have accepted your redundancy application? So she might not be able to go still...
Also, if anyone in the 'pool' above us gets demoted, that will put 3 people in our pool again, so I will be the one to go.
So I am having to still assume I'm losing my job despite my workmate going for voluntary.
My head is going to popppppppppppppppppp:eek:0 -
Welll hello hope everybody had a good bank holiday weekend

My Mum's birthday party was on Friday night. It was a real MSE experience! I went in with no money and came out with £40!! The joy of drunk relatives eh
So that meant that my journey to Chester Zoo on Saturday was free :j I have now learned that I have a fear of bats after walking through the bat enclosure and seeing some MASSIVE ones...*shudders*
On Sunday I did 4 hours of work at time and a half...very MSE.
On Monday it was OH's sister's 21st birthday so we made her a money tree. We ripped a stick off a tree and sewed £21 onto it then put it in a plant pot :rotfl:
Work news:
My workmate has had her voluntary redundancy accepted. This means that I am no longer at risk...so technically my job is safe.
But just to keep things rubbish and complicated...my job isn't safe because there will only be one manager needed apparently so people will start getting "bumped" down til they reach my lowly administration role then my job will be at risk again
BUT that is just a rumour. There has been nothing official saying that my job could become at risk again.
I feel like this when I think about work: :wall:
I feel very happy at the moment though crazily enough. Things can only get better, eh!0 -
Good news about the job catherine, don't worry about your job being at risk again, until it actually happens. Rumours are always rife when redundancies are happening. Well done on gaining £40 at a night out, will need to try that one out, ha!0
