Withdrawing cash from ATM's aboard

We have a "Short Form Flex Account" - basically it is Internet only although crucially you get an ATM card, (no cheque book), we opened it originally as a route to get an e-savings account. This was some time ago, so I'm not sure if you can still go down this route.Lipsticklady wrote:will nationwide only accept you if you transfer your current account to them? I wanted to open a nationwide account and deposit £x amonut of cash into it and leave soem in there and only use it for holiday spends. i dont really want my wages to go into it? any advice?
We then do exactly what you are trying to do - plus use the Nationwide Credit Card for all non-cash purchases.0 -

Oops! Interest rates & general charges:EMPTY_PURSE wrote:Hi,
I have a halifax visa electron card .. does anyone know whether they charge for using ATMs abroad.
Have used card on numerous occassions but never checked statement ... oops !Charges for using your card abroad
If you use your card abroad, the amount of the transaction will be changed to pounds sterling on the date we take it out of your account. This may not be the same date that the transaction is carried out. We'll choose the exchange rate that applies and we'll include a conversion fee of 2.75% of the amount of the transaction. We will also deduct a service charge of £1.50 from your account immediately for each transaction.
Those with Nationwide cards, be cautious with ATMs abroad:

i dont really understand.....sorry!
The links didnt work on the other page. Does this apply when you use your card at a point of sale or does the option on the ATM ask for sterling or local currency.
sorry if it seems dim but, am a bit confused0 -
I have used the Flex Account debit card abroad on numerous times and there has never been a charge. I do not think that Nationwide would even think about it. They are a bloomin good bank to be with!
