I agree, well done MM. The transformation has been amazing. You should be proud of yourself!

There was another phobiaish thread on here recently and the difference in attitude between theirs and yours was very noticeable. Apparently you can't do anything about phobias. They're incurable and that's just the way it is!

Thanks ixwood, i am relly proud - it's been a long time coming! :D I do understand why other people say you can't do anything about it though.

For probably 20 years i believed i was stuck with this for life - i tried hypnosis and even therapy to cure it, but the hypnosis did nothing and as soon as the therapist moved from money spiders to big ones...i was outta there!! :rotfl:
I wish i could bottle up and sell whatever caused the change in me. Perhaps age and wisdom, or sheer determination, or just being fed up to my high teeth of missing out on so much...... Probably though it was just the realisation that I REALLY wanted to grown my own food for my family and that dream could not be fulfilled until i cured myself. Maybe just self belief and having a real good REASON is what really cures you!!!

I hope the other thread phobic reads this and it gives them hope that i didn't have for so many years!! I'm not unrealistic though, the occasional surprise still makes me jump and i still occasionally act on autopilot and run at a loud buzz, but now i don't run, scream and wave like a lunatic, and stop as soon as i realise i've started!! We have a mid sized spider living in the bathroom and i've left it there for 4 days now!:D At least it no longer RULES my life, it just inconveniences it occasionally!!

I think you're right. Like most thing in life a positive attitude works. If you believe it, you'll see it.

All the help and encouragement you got here hopefully helped a bit too.

Well done to the other ex or work in progress phobia suffers too. It's great to hear all the little successes. :)

Well you've chosen the right hobby to improve your patience.

At least it increases the anticipation. All good things come to she who waits!

Well it's a good job I don't like strawberrys cos dd2 is demolishing every one as soon as they are picked! :D

This weekend i have sown some peas and radishes (as the first lot of radishes all bolted!).

I wish i had the energy and time to clear the allotment all in one go, then i could sow LOADS!!! It is so big though that we can only do a bit at a time! Oh well, in about 5 years we'll have it cleared, and i guess i'll be kept pretty busy with it - and at least dd2 will be at school by then, so i'll have more time !

    Happy growing ...and picking !!

you never can tell really. It can be blistering hot, or very very rainy and cold. Well it won't be winter freezing like of course, but a rain coat is not a luxury. :D I'd bring at least one pair of warmish clothes just in case.

    Which way are you coming?..

Question: Here is a picture of my cuc plant. The cuc has spikes on it, is this normal and will they go as it grows bigger?
