I have had a good chat with them. They have given an approximate amount they will have to live on. I said he needs to find work before he moves out and I want to see (for his sake, rather than ours) a list of incomings and outgoings.

He won't give me his card (to access the account) to look after, as he claims I am treating him like a kid and don't trust him. I have drummed it into him that he touches that money without discussing with me, there will be serious consequences.

His girlfriend will be living with us for a while. Her house is very hectic and she finds it hard to study, which is why she is wanting to leave home. Our place is quiet and we have space, but we have house rules, such as being quiet in corridors/halls and letting us know if he will eat with us that night.

I also restrict use of the kitchen, as it is right below the main bedroom and noisy (disturbs us), I also have to check if things are off/shut and locked before I can relax. He does have cooking and bathroom facilities in his room.

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.
