Having been made redundant 3 times in the past years due to the decimation of the printing industry we have no option to move otherwise we would both be made redundant. All I am entitled to is JSA due to my girlfriends earnings. All I was looking for was some advice....not a personal attack due to me saying I'm not actively seeking employment due to our circumstances which will be rectified in 2 weeks. Blah blah f'ing blah!
You do not seem to understand that saying you are claiming JSA and then saying you are not looking for work does not go down well on a board like this as well as being the wrong thing to do.0 -
I am far from high and mighty....I apoogise if I come over like that. I didnt post that I wasn't looking as I couldn't be bothered or was sticking two fingers up to all taxpayers. Its a far from ideal situation I am in....a situation I wish I wasn't in. My girlfriend only got confirmation that she had to move 3 weeks ago and we have tried to organise ourselves as soon as we possibly could.0

I would like to know what others would do in my situation. I have been searching the internet for jobs in the new area but it is difficult moving to a completely new area and trying to find a job before you move.0

In hindsight the phrase 'actively seeking LOCAL employment' would have been better.0

It isn't that difficult. I would go on the jobcentre website, type in your new location, and have a gander through the jobs available. Doesn't hurt to start looking now, and it would mean you are fulfiling your requirements of looking for work.My Wins: £150 Next giftcard. Rimmel Lip Gloss, Benefit Lipstick and lipgloss. Rimmel Day2Night mascara. Elizabeth Arden Body Treatment Cream. Big Bang Theory T-shirt, Make Up Set, St Tropez Kit, Clipper Mug Tea Set, Rosie Project Book, Kwik Fit MOT. Benefit Make Up Set Dior Star Foundation. VIP Concert Tickets & Meet & Greet with The Saturdays0 -

And you could start writing to possible employers, i think the personal approach works bestNever Say Die I've tried it and it doesn't actually make people die0 -
It will not affect JSA as you are looking for work in another area. You simply tell the jobcentre you are moving and that you are looking for work in the area you are going to.Arrange to sign-on at the new jobcentre.0
