Problem with my freeview

I have had my TV (I cant remember the make at the moment but will check later) with inbuilt freeview for about 6 months. (brought from costco) all was fine until about a week ago I turned it on to find a lot of the channels were missing. I did an auto scan and it picked up all the missing channels.
The next time I turned on the TV the channels were missing again, and I had to rescan to get them back. This happens every time I turn the TV off. Am I doing something really wrong?! HELP!

After you have scanned the channels is there an option to save them?

Some of the EPG downloads have become corrupted in recent weeks. You don't say what model of tv you have, but may I suggest finding the forum for that tv on the web and looking there. You will probably find a solution. For my model it is to turn the box off after the overnight update and switch on again after about 15 mins.
