The only problem I have with the JC is 99.9% of jobs are all min wage, While the min wage may be ideal for someone living at home with no dependants, you may as well not be working if you have a house and family to keep, you'd possibly get more on benefits, thats the problem I've always had. You add up your housing benefits, council tax, Child Tax, Child Benefits etc you know you have almost as much as you would have doing a weeks work on min wage.

You may see the wording "meets national minimum wage" on JC advertised vacancies.

This means the job pays at least the NMW and the employer has confirmed this.

The employer may have chosen not to state the wage so the JCP have to confirm with the employer that the NMW law is being adhered to. JCP will not advertise jobs that do not meet this criteria.

    In theory!
I don't think anyone is vetting jobs on the job centre website at the moment. Most of them in my area are marketing companies advertising fake jobs to reap email addresses or companies only offering commission on products no one will buy that require you driving and phoning for hours at your own cost.

50% of ours around here are for the Army, 40% for sales as you mention and the other 10% are genuine jobs only about 2% are local

It's not a load of garbage, though most adverts in the JC are from private recruitment agencies (as opposed to the JC) and they are no better. Most of these are jobs that don't exist and many of these agencies really shouldn't be in business at all the way people get treated working for them.

As for working for the budget supermarkets like Lidl: they do pay well - and if you work for them you'll find out why! :D

Again a load of garbage.I was only unemployed for 2 months but most jobs i saw on the jobcentre website and also in the jobcentre were from companies.

    economic conscription is morally abhorrent.

It is not garbage it is just different to where you live!
Indeed jobs on the job centre website have been of very poor quality for a very long time now.
Also did you contact all the companies? You cannot tell by looking that they are email reaping companies.

2 months won't give you enough of a sample from which to comment.

the website itself is poor quality. The search filters don't work properly, the jobs are not adequately labelled, categorised or described. The whole thing is an unwieldy mess and has been since day one.
