Job situation is dire!

Just had a look on the job centre website. In our town and surrounding area, We have a total of 2 jobs with 700 people out of work, what really is the chances. I am lucky in that I have a job all be it min wage but am looking to change, but unlucky in the fact that there are no jobs to change so have to stick out the depression, for me I think being on the dole would be better instead of being trapped.

The job centre website is mostly used by the low of the low for employment - there are exceptions.
Just because there are only 2 jobs showing doesnt mean there are only 2 jobs in that area.
As for the dole - you won't get it if you just walk out0 -

Jobcentre is the only employment agency around here, we had a recruitment agency but ironically went bust. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi
I know it's really tough to get or change a job at the moment.
Just a suggestion. Some employers don't advertise vacancies. Perhaps you might try putting together a good CV and covering letter and sending it to the type of place you would like to work. Find out the name of the manager first and address him/her by name. Also make sure your CV is targetting at them and not just a general one. Maybe they will have something for you or keep you in mind if something comes up.
I got a job like that once. I got a call out of the blue and they wanted me to start immediately. The interview was just to fill in the paperwork.
Good luck.0 -

What a load of garbage
The govt is continually pushing companies to advertise their vacancies on there and there is a wide range of work.0 -

You obviously have no idea whatsoever... I do wish you would post something sensible instead of useless diatribe.
Another jobs website is https://www.jobs.ac.uk (lists jobs of all kinds in colleges, universities etc both at home and abroad).0 -
OP you tried supermarkets close to you, aldi pay well and so do lidl, send out prospective job letters asking if they have any vacancies, try reed.co.uk, total jobs, if you want to find a then then imo you will do whatever it takes or to a certain extent to get find a job0
