It's not a load of garbage, though most adverts in the JC are from private recruitment agencies (as opposed to the JC) and they are no better. Most of these are jobs that don't exist and many of these agencies really shouldn't be in business at all the way people get treated working for them.

As for working for the budget supermarkets like Lidl: they do pay well - and if you work for them you'll find out why! :D

there's nothing wrong with working there, if people are out of a job and aldi or lidl have offered a job to people unemployed they will take it as its a job that pays well,

Not necessarily true regarding the agencies. I've been working for the same (well known) High Street agency for the last 6 months and they couldn't treat me better. Get holiday pay, a good hourly rate (£12ph) and get treated well. Maybe I am an exception to the general rule...I don't know as it's the first time I've used an agency in nearly 15 years.

The JC couldn't help me as they didn't have the kind of work I was looking for...but the jobs are not necessarily for the lowest of the low either.

I know someone who works at Lidl and it is good pay - certainly worth a try if you have one near you.

    Good luck

The jobcentre can't be that bad, I've had two interviews this week through vacancies I saw on there:

    1) Area sales manager - £30K OTE
    2) Deputy Manager for a chain of DIY stores - £22K - £29K

And both of these were direct, not through agencies...

Yeah the thing is there are so little new jobs and so many people looking for them, that company's don't need to use agency's at the moment because so many people go threw jobcentre

I got my current job through the jobcentre website, my job isn't ideal by a long chalk, but it pays and that is all that matters.

The only problem I have with the JC is 99.9% of jobs are all min wage, While the min wage may be ideal for someone living at home with no dependants, you may as well not be working if you have a house and family to keep, you'd possibly get more on benefits, thats the problem I've always had. You add up your housing benefits, council tax, Child Tax, Child Benefits etc you know you have almost as much as you would have doing a weeks work on min wage.

The thing is as long as you work over 30 hours a week if you have kids the pay will be better than JSA
+ child tax credit, once working tax credit are added on. Before tax credits there was a real trap, that is much better than it was.

I think lidl/aldi pay well as they have fewer staff thus you are expected to do a lot more work - in Tesco etc if the place is quiet the staff on the tills just wait for customers, in Lidl your off the till and stacking shelves or doing something else.
