If he [ nationwide bloke] is bigger and harder than you - it'll be your head getting ripped off and thrown to the cashiers to chew on whilst they serve the nice pleasant customers lol ;)

This morning I went onto my Nationwide online account to see if my had been transferred from my old Yorkshire Bank A/c, while online I thought
I would apply for a Credit Card. However things did not go smoothly,
first of all it didn't like the fact I was not working, secondly it could not
understand that my Yorkshire Visa card was in CREDIT by £0.37 and upon completing the on-line form I was told I was REFUSED a credit card and would be sent a letter as to the reasons why.

Now this has made me bloody angry. I currently have approxiamtely £15,000 split between my flexi account and e-saving account. I have
NO DEBTS, my house is my own, without mortage.

I only opened a Flexi Account to get the advantage of the free foreign transactions with Debit Cards when travelling in Europe.

Have the Nationwide always discriminated against people who don't work
for one reason or another even though they can meet the requirements of depositing £500 a month in a Flexi A/c.

Maybe they don't like people who pay off credit card to avoid interest charges. Never paid ANY in 30+ years.

I'm looking forward to ripping the head of someone at Nationwide when I get the letter in my hand.

Thanks for letting me get it off my chest.

Still on a crusade against the Nationwide then !

I would have thought that after 1 year you would have tried another card company if you need a card that much ! It's not as if there isn't choice, especially for someone with an excellent history like yours

Or is it that you love the thought of trolling on here too much ?

Back in 2006 when I was 18 and a half and not working, Nationwide gave me a credit card with no prior relationship. I think I was bloody lucky though! Only a £700 limit, hehe. But I was so chuffed to get my first CC. However, I did have an income and I could put I was a 'student' so not 'unemployed' lol. Are you retired? They might accept that as an occupation.

I should not be put in the position of being ask to lie just to get a credit card. I only want the dammed thing so I can take it on holiday when we go touring in the motorhome across Europe and not have pay any charges as with other CC companies.

And just to update you all, the letter came to today, stating my credit ratinmg was too low. A quick check with Experian revealed my credit score to be 898. I have telephoned Nationwide and lodge a formal appeal against their decision. My wife who is working, applied for a credit this afternoon and was granted one immediately.

My only conclusion is the NATIONWIDE actively discriminates against the unemployed, WITHOUT knowing the full details of the applicants financial position.

As for those who think I am on some sort of trolling crusade, spin on it, I will continue to fight injustice whenever I come across it.

    Injustice, my a r s e ! :rotfl:

And what excatly do those three fictitious numbers supplied by Experian have to do with Nationwide's decision ?

You have the right to appeal against their decision, they may even consider it for a few seconds before laughing at your arrogance in thinking you have a right to demand one of their credit cards.

    Troll On !!

Full details make no sense, you're unemployed. You have no regular financial income. This is what primarily would be the first hurdle in a credit card application.

As for the 'full details', its how you operate credit which is what a decision is based upon, not 'how much you have in the bank'.

As for discrimination, credit isn't a right. Your arrogance doesn't really help your cause either.

Not just Nationwide. methinks most online applications using automatic credit scoring rejects the unemployed, whatever their bank balance. Experien score is irrelevent, Nationwide do their own based on your application answers.
Their rejection letter should follow certain Industry guidelines and offer a manual (human) review
