Hi Di, I need to watch without the dog being in the room he hears the barking and runs to the door, funny dogs can be on the telly and he just raises an eyebrow.
    Hows your day been? x
  • How did your sis get on at the hospital Marshallka?
  • Hi Marshallka, thanks for the update its so frustrating not being able to just get the answers .. the only two things I know about marrow is bone marrow transplants (not in any depth, just words you hear) and that the dog loves a marrow bone. Not very helpful I know. It was good the doc looked into your background too! Could the platelet problem be hereditary? Sorry I'm not medically informed at all just concerned.

Hope you have a relaxing Friday night all I can say thank goodness its Friday:Axx

She went on OK in a way but had more tests before leaving??. She has b12 deficiency, folate deficiency and also they had not even told her but her platelets have risen more than ever now (which is what I have myself but my sis's are higher than mine) and they now think its a marrow problem. He told her her bloods had been watched at hematology for 7 years as her platelets were high then. SHe attended hematology 4 years ago but they left her in that if she was well then it was OK to watch and wait. Now they have got to the stage where they say that it really cannot be an infection and that its more likely to be the marrow itself. I was discharged in July last year for the same problem (but I am not anaemic though) and again they are watching and waiting. I think she now has problems from this anaemia and she really is not well. She looks so thin and is still losing weight so they have done cultures on numerous things and hopefully she will have an acurate diagnosis in a few weeks. He tried to look up the biopsy and its not back yet. He did ask for my unit number to look at my bloods too as I have been on watch and wait for over 4 years (maybe 5 years) but mine are not as high as my sis. She will get there but just needs a diagnosis TBH and obviously treatment for whatever is making her lose so much weight and no appetite now.

    Thanks for asking.

    Sorry to hear this Marshallka.
Hope they get something sorted out very soon, what a worry this is for you and your family XXX

We just need her a diagnosis and the right meds and she will be fine i am sure. She has got no appetite now and looks quite thin if i am honest but she will be OK. They just need to be sure and today they have now said (after all this time) it looks more likely to be a problem with the marrow. She has been watched for 7 years and me for 5 but its just strange like the hemo says that we both have this problem. She has now had the same test (antibodies immune tests) that i had done last year. She is worried but i have assured her that even if it is a marrow problem its treatable and not a death threat. I just hope that they have not !!!!ed about too long though. This year (in fact Jan) they have bought the diagnostic criteria down for this thing they think she has although my sis could have been diagnosed before they bought it down. Mine were just not high enough but would be now according to the new one. Its all very confusing but just hope they start her on something soon as she is getting worse with no appetite. If she is diagnosed then its not a death sentence. http://www.mayoclinic.org/thrombocythemia/

Evening all! Yep, I know it's late but better late than never! :p
Seems like everyone has had a busy day today then?
DNPG-I'm glad your husband is safe and well. What a great job he does, along with the rest of the emergency services across the country. Every night, I drink an extra pint to toast these people. ;):D
Marshallka-I hope your sister is doing well and increses in strength every day. I'm sure the doctors are trying they best they can to help her. If not, shouting sometimes helps! :rotfl: Maybe your sis can try some mind focus techniques to help her along? It's a bit hard to explain but the results are really worth it. I do it on a very rare basis to keep focused.
Di-Well, it's just you really isn't it! :rotfl: :rotfl:He he. Hope you've had a good day, pickle. :T

Had a bit fun at work today. Had a 12 year old lad kick off. A right nasty git! Furniture everywhere, kicking, biting, spitting, which resulted in him being restrained but I wasn't allowed to assist. (Different section to what I deal with.) So I had to spend two hours chomping at the bit, trying get rid of a load of adrenalin out of me and having a massive shake come down! Not very nice going through that. You're trying to channel pent up energy with no release for it! :o
All the time you're watching your back, you can never look forward...
