Take youre point sabre, but another support broken and asides from US a lot of housebuilders updating this week.If that sector dissapoints we will no doubt continue downward

RBS seem to be cheered by the housing sector.

RBS ups Bellway (BWY.LN) to buy from hold, target to 780p from 540p. Ups Bovis (BVS.LN) to buy from sell, target to 415p from 350p. Ups Persimmon (PSN.LN) to hold from sell, target to 340p from 205p. Cuts Redrow (RDW.LN) to sell from hold. Says it appears fully priced. Increases price target to 168p from 138p. Expects UK house prices to fall further, but says the risk of a significant over-correction looks lower. Ups Barratt Developments (BDEV.LN) target to 159p from 75p, keeps at hold. Lifts Berkeley (BKG.LN) target to 660p from 600p, leaves at sell. (ANT)

4180 is support and I don`t know what ukx is doing just now. Still a long (ish) way above 4000 imo

4233 is 200 ma and I wouldn`t be surprised if it gets back there in the next few days. Just a bit of shakin rattlin and rollin first to get folks to release their holdings

Sp500 previously turned around at 888 on 16:00gmt 23rd June. This could be a short lived fall back after all

I thought keydata went broke, must be just a similar name

My bad, here it is. Much like barings continues to this day
PwC said that a range of Keydata-branded venture capital trusts were separate legal entities and not subject to the administration.
The range comprises Keydata AIM VCT (LSE: KEY.L - news) plc, Keydata AIM VCT 2 (LSE: KEYT.L - news) plc, Keydata Income VCT 1 plc and Keydata VCT plc 2.

The firm was formed in 2001 when Keydata -- a company with a background in multimedia sales tools for asset managers -- acquired Reading-based Fedsure Investment Products Services. Private equity firm 3i Group Plc held an 18.5 percent stake in Keydata until 2006, when the stake was sold to management, a 3i spokesman said.

Why did I not pick all the winners. Anyone got a crystal ball?
Perhaps a call to mystic meg is in order.

With markets so jumpy I wonder if normal types of betting are in decline, I know spreadbetting has become a growth sector and ig index is a ftse listed stock tipped by some. Not sure what their stock symbol is

If you click on % at the top of your mam stockwatch chart then you can arrange the stocks in order eg blue at the top and red at the bottom. I tend to look at that rather than ukx, as my portfolio is not representative of ukx ie it is much more defensive. Today 13 are up, 1 neutral and 7 down. A bit psychologically better than just looking at ukx

IG Index is part of IG Group (IGG.L) (ps I bought into these at £1.80-ish a few months ago, and have now sold them. Maybe should have kept them ;)).

On the subject of support/resistance points, what do people use to determine these most often? Low and high prices? Closing prices?

Highest volume price or volume weighted average price is the most significant because it involves the most people.

The closing price for Jan 2nd or July 2nd is not that important because these two days on the sp500 (I read anyway) were especially low volume. The crowd will trample right over that support point if they feel like it

Ideally you dont want to take just one point of resistance, look for a trend already confirmed. Thats what channels/breakout are all about I guess

mam stockwatch chart ? I know what you mean generally, heatmaps and that.
Ive started buying commodity related stuff and thats all down because if sentiment falls they think demand will fall, etc It will have to be bought more then once basically, Im not sure where or when it'll turn
Majority % holdings rose today against the tide, but Im more concerned about their long term prospects

turbobob. They are areas of congestion on a chart ie were there are several contact points on a horizontal line. You should draw the lines and then you may see a channel when people buy at the bottom and sell at the top ie it becomes a self-fulfilling thing. A breakout occurs when the price leaves the channel with good volume

support and resistance have a huge lot to do with market psycholiogy

support and resistance are the most important parameters in TA (technical analysis ie charting)

Watch for ex div as you may get a false reading

The blue line is the average price for the day based on volume as shown at chart bottom

The green and yellow lines are something else I forgot  more normalised 'boundaries'

edit: here is an explanation for anyone interested. They are lines drawn as a function of previous days trade, support levels - S1 S2
