Spreadbetting is banned over there I think
Don't know if you still need this answered but FTSE100 futures have the code "Z" so Z1209 would be one expiring in December I believe. More info here http://www.euronext.com/landing/landingInfo-1896-EN.html0 -
Thanks bob, looks about right and Ive passed it on so hopefully they can trade that
I dont really agree with selling everything Kittie because now instead it means holding just british currency which means a less diversified portfolio and more risk imo.
With Questor, I think they were saying take profits but also move money sideways by investing in new ideas, they had a buy today also.
I ignored them on AGK for the moment anyway, I think it will be flat for me at worst but again it only represents 1 or 2% of the total picture to me . If it was 20% I'd sell half I guess
Anyway rather then disagree, I hope your strategy works out for the best. I hate paying commission too much and Ive no idea if markets will fall particularly anyway. I doubt they will shoot up, but I doubted this whole rally
The confusing thing that happened today was because of unexpected more positive job figures (10% unemployed ) both a rise in stocks and the dollar index worth occurred at the same time.
This news raises the prospects of higher interest rates and so then usa stocks fell back and ftse by proxy. (Also ECB will be withdrawing loans to banks)
Gold fell, oil was steady I believe but I think both are more stable then currency medium or longer term
Also read Shell will be the worlds largest natural gas producer by 2012 and oil will become a minority in its business!
I forgot to mention this portfolio competition in time for December entry. There is a prize worth a couple hundred so might be worth doing?
Anyhow they list for the year who issued new shares, who was suspended, etc so that might be of interest anyhow

Sorry STT didn't see that the root is Z front month Z9 switching to H0 on rollover (that being H zero)
Here's the IB related page for him.

Thanks, Ive passed that on. Is it significant that the prices seem to be indicating a lower ftse price for next year ?

support was 5292. Where to now is anyone`s guess and we have a troubled week ahead0

It is looking quite negative, not exactly sure why except trading has been slightly odd recently compared to the previous trend anyway.
I had a line drawn about 5270 that failed to hold also currency breaking out downwards. But this can reverse, if we can stay above 5270 that will stabilise it .
USA futures are quite strong apparently
The banks arent moving much, its the miners maybe. Commodities are 30% of the ftse now, pog is tipped to enter the index on wed also pre budget then
Actually this chart says Im wrong in my impression but I reckon its gold and dollar related anyway

Bearing in mind how stockmarkets have been negatively correlated with dollar strength for a while, I guess it could be dollar related. The dollar strengthened on Friday on the back of US employment data. EUR/USD now looks to have broken a long standing uptrend support. The dollar index may be on the up?0

Definitely tin hat time with traps all over the place and I have no idea where we are going just now, TA says back up to 5400 but I don`t have the stomach to buy. It makes a nice change for me to wrap up profits while the sipp is at its highest, with more divis due to roll in over the next few weeks and I aint going to risk it anytime soon.
Having said that, I do have a stack of work ahead in that I am going to do a TA analysis of every stock I have held and will put in lower limit buys on some that I definitely want to buy back. Difficult decisions with a lot of money and a drawdown pension at stake0 -
Kittie, calm down, youve sold up,made a good profit(congrats)now youre fretting cant wait to get back in
Ive also done well(doubled up)Im going to enjoy XMAS and booked a nice hol for most of January.
When I return if theres some bargains I may partake but this isnt the time for 'investing'(long term holding) simply trading It may well be like this for another 2-3 years.0 -
lol yes tonygee. I want to make the cash work for me. I won`t be buying until after our long holiday but I am doing my homework before the hols and I`ll place some limit buys at fairly lowish and cheeky levels. I agree re the next few years. Gosh its pretty hard work making the money earn its keep. Wd on doubling up, fantastic result. Enjoy your hols
edit: I did buy back as it was a good opportunity. I could always leave the pot month on month etc but I might as well maximise its potential0
