I am glad to see the correction too, its much healthier to have some downs. Mind you I have been staying away from the portfolio and charts etc and even from bloomers as I really wanted to ride the storm rather than get whipsawed all ways, through adverse psychology
Ah stt now I know why my emed holding is up 30% since I last looked. Nice. Portfolio is holding its own too, very nicely, so I can carry on knitting and baking without worrying.
I need to have enough cash by july 2010 to withdraw a whole years pension. I`ll have to try and save cash in the portfolio. I hate being a forced seller of shares so maybe I`ll work out the divis to then ie forward planning. Capricorn I may be but an impulsive one at that, I`ll have to curb my tendencies0

I hate the whole whipsaw thing also, seems pretty unavoidable that alot of the market goes down together but in theory some companies should do better when others do worse
I was trying to use Morningstar the other day because they display weightings to a fund portfolio which could be useful but Im not sure it properly covers shares or IT and ETF I hold
I dont hold EMED unfortunately, almost everything was down so I was noting what was a trend breaker
Stuff I actually hold is in similar sectorsgreen on my screen:
 wmh
 emed
 hgm
 lgen
 shanghai
 IGG
 CEY, POG, AAL

The markets are acting very strong at the moment it seems, the currency uptrend has held since yesterday morning unbroken which is rareBack last night, sabre:D
Dam that figures, we had a rise today :O
I mentioned previously a fund that liquidates when Congress is in session. seems the opposite may be more profitable at least on FOMC days

Noticed Barclays were up over 4% today to 337, bit of a yo yo stock at the moment."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

As is the market in general recently.
Barc is reorganising alot of departments it seems which is in line with apparently parabolic profit growth from lehmans acquisition.
No doubt they are doing all sorts of clever sly deals that I dont really understand.
I think if they approached 300 it would be worth having some to hold, major support scales in from 300 to 260. I wonder what dividend they will pay or even when is that announced

Afren will be looking to move to the main market in early December.
Hot sector - oil and gas exploration and production.
 Operations focused in Africa.
Thinking about dumping Aminex and Empyrean Energy and piling in there -
 Any thoughts?0
