  • I did baby led weaning with my son, he is 12 months old and has 100% totally self-fed from 7 months. He will eat everything & anything, and i barely even have to cut it up for him, he just picks up the chicken, potatoes, veg & stuff himself & eats it! maybe this is worth a try with your little one?

My youngest wouldn't eat purees so I did baby led weaning.

It was fantastic going out for lunch with my friends, they'd all be asking waiters to heat up purees or opening jars (having brought all this stuff with them in the first place) I'd just pop lots of food from my plate onto his plate.

    Thanks all for the replies.
She wasn't a sicky baby whilst on milk alone. She's having mashed spuds with pureed veg and it's going down a treat. I think I will still offer her stuff as finger food but make sure her dinners are a bit smoother.
Am sure she'll get there in the end. She does like to play with her food so will still let her get stuck in there.
Skintchick thanks for the links - will have a look at those when I get chance!

Good luck with this - it will improve, I'm sure. If it's any consolation, my oldest son would reject any food with 'bumps' in it - this phase did pass, and was helped by not stressing about it, and by letting him try odds and ends of whatever we were eating, in addition to pureed foods; son no 2 was helping himself to roast potatoes from my plate from about 6 months old. As the oldest one is now a strapping 22 yr old with a 9 month sprog of his own, it all works out in the end!
