The email I got specifically says that the offer is open to anybody, though you will have to sign up (free) if you're not a member.
I can recommend Audible. I have a subscription of 2 books per month as I listen while commuting on my pda (works on ipods, many mp3 players, laptops, burnt to cds etc), and I got a free ipod shuffle with the subscription.
EDIT - I have found a more direct link to the offer: http://recp.rm05.net/ctt?kn=8&m=176064&r=MTEwMjgxMDg1MAS2&b=0&j=NTY4Njg5MTgS1&mt=2&rj=NTY2Nzg3MTQS1 and hope this clears up any confusion.

What are your membership requirements ie: once you've signed up for 12 months, do you have to take a specific number of products per month?0
-
it looks like you have to subscribe to one audio book a month for a year. which looks to be around the £10 mark. not too bad if you use the books as you also get an ipod shuffle for joining.0

I'm not subscribed and just bought one for a £1You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0

Yes, you can sign up for free without subscription and just buy the odd book including the £1 ones. If you listen a lot the subscription with 1 or 2 books per month is worthwhile, but the per book prices are much lower than buying books on CD anyway. Enjoy!0

Will they send out copies of the £1 cd's or do you have to download them ?0
-
You download them, you can chose the file size/quality.0

Grownup1 I've pm you.
I listen to audiobooks everynight at work, I'd be lost without them, very boring job. I have about 60gigs on my hd, but I change them every week.
So if anyone wants to know where you can get them cheaper, just pm.0 -
Norman-B, what problem did you have in trying to access the books?0

I made 5 attempts to purchase books at £1 but each time I was directed to sign up for 12 months on the £14.99 PM service. In the end, I settled for two months free trial. Now I need to buy an MP3 player or can I just download the trial books to my hard drive?0
