I stock up with the usual suspects, Tuna, tinned toms, baked beans, rice, pasta, noodles, jam, butter/spread, Uht milk, T roll wash up liquid, flour, cooking marg, FR eggs, cheese, pots, natural yog, tinned fruit, mayo, some frozen veg, onions, bread, pitta bread, part bake and bacon, and a few tubs of decent quality ice cream. These are most of my basics for the month, so if on offer I would stock up on these. I also make sure I have stuff in to make biscuits, buns or flapjacks for packed lunches. And will make quiche, pizza pie, parathra and plate pies with the flour. HTH'S :D

We do a big shop once a month and then just do little top ups each week of fresh stuff.
To stock up we get toilet rolls, cereal, juice, sugar, flour, toiletries, nappies, baby wipes, meat, yogurts (put some in the freezer) beans, tinned tomatoes, rice, pasta (big bags).

If some things are on offer then I will buy more that month.

Regarding cheese, I have found that buying the grated value cheese is cheaper than buying the value block cheese in Mr A and Mr T.

The pre-grated cheese has stuff added to stop it caking and to slow down mold (because with a far greater surface area, mold takes over much faster). I found this, which makes interesting reading. And I've sometimes found a bag of pre-grated cheese which has gone moldy sooner than I expected - certainly faster than a block of cheese would have done - which soon cancels out any savings from buying it. So generally, I'd rather buy a block and grate it myself.
  • Most supermarkets at the moment do branded name mature cheddar, so I buy a months supply, then grate and put in tubs and some in the freezer, if I think the family may go on a cheese frenzy! :rotfl:(also use for cooking, quice, pizza pie and cheese and pot pies.)

The puppy type loo roll very often has an offer of buy 2 packs of 9 rolls for about 6 quid and it does have more paper per roll so tends to last longer than value brands.

That seems to be a popular misconception. If you do the maths, you'll find it works out to be almost 3 times more expensive.
