Have always bought the puppy one and the only time I've had a blocked loo was in the downstairs loo when there were tree roots growing through the drains and that was about 12 years ago......so not convinced about this!

Maybe it's just our loo that gets blocked bu it then. When we got it, our loo used to get blocked almost every week. Then we changed to the value stuff and it was fine. But then it might just be us that had the problem.

I have to agree with you, FreebieRocker - since we replaced our old loo with a new loo, we can only use cheap & cheerful loo roll!! Anything even remotely quality blocks up our loo, soon as look at it. And I'm the one who has to unblock it.

I find Mr T or Mr S 'luxury' version works well. (Although, I would consider the term 'luxury' to be just below the quality of an ordinary puppy roll), and there's almost always some kind of offer on it.

I wonder if it's down to the number of sheets used....if one always uses acertain number, then is there less likliehood of a blockage with thinner "value" paper?

    I stock up on

Meat - when on offer (Lidl has mince/chicken thighs/drumsticks etc) for about £1.50 per pack right now.
Toilet roll - Asda had 16rolls of triple velvet for £3, I KNEW they wouldn't have it in stock when I did my online shop so they sent me (I had ordered 3) 18packs of charmin ultra instead - pay the same price too! Bonus.
    Tinned tomato's
    Sliced mushrooms
    Frozen peppers
    Loads of pasta!

On friday I am hoping to go to the supermarkets

For fabric conditioner I use Fairy @ £2.00 for 750ml

Before you go to the supermarkets, do you have a Home Bargains or B&M nearby as these are great shops for getting lots of stuff cheaply, much cheaper than the supermarkets even when on offer.

With regard to the fabric conditioner - have you ever tried white vinegar. I used to always use fabric conditioner but no more, I always use vinegar now and it is so much cheaper and no, your clothes do not smell of vinegar.

The above is all I can think of at the mo so need some ideas on the types of things that you all buy in bulk

Whatever has a long life and is on a good special offer.

Household goods like TP and detergent, obviously. I don't buy fabric softener at all, so they'd have to be giving it away (and even then I'd take it and give it to someone else). Toothpaste, but only if the special offer makes it cheaper than the own-brand. Toothbrushes - with six children, I've been known to buy 40 toothbrushes at one time when they had good kids' ones on a really cheap deal.

Dried goods like pasta and rice. Canned goods - esp things like tomatoes which are staples in my house. Dried milk (for baking and in cups of tea when we run out of the usual stuff). Sugar and other baking things that we use regularly. Dried beans. I like beans, and keep lots of different kinds on hand. I stock up at the Asian supermarket, where they are waaaay cheaper than the supermarkets.

Bread if very cheap. I once bought 43 packs of pancakes - they were packs of six with three extra in each pack, which made packs of nine, and the staff member was there at the clearance shelf marking them down to 9 pence a pack - a penny a pancake LOL! I was taking them off the shelf as she set them on - she laughed and started to just sticker them and put them straight in my trolley instead. They went in the freezer. I think the bread clearance shelf might be my favourite place in my local Mr T :D

Anything else that can go in the freezer. For some things (particularly meats) obviously there's a limit to how long it will keep its quality, but I'll cheerfully buy large quantities of anything I know I can use up (which is most things, given how many I'm feeding here).

Fruit that's on clearance, because I know my lot can demolish large quantities of it within a few hours.

I've started to buy sacks of potatoes at the local market, because they are much cheaper than in the supermarket. I keep them in the sack, in the garage (just off the kitchen, so no inconvenience). It might not be such a good buy for a smaller family, although even then perhaps you could split it with a friend or neighbour. Or bake or roast a load of them for the freezer.

"luxury" loo roll blocks the upstairs loo but not downstairs, thought it was just us but not according to others on here.

What about flour? (especially if you use a BM or bake your own bread and cakes)

Porridge is good too (if you like it or if you like Twinks Hob Nobs/flapjacks)
