Items that you keep stocked up

Today is my first day of living the os way again as I fell off the wagon a few months back :o

On friday I am hoping to go to the supermarkets and stock up on a few bits that are hopefully going to last me a few weeks if not months.

I normally buy Mr Ts own brand washing powder £1.64 for a 3kg this normally lasts me for 3 weeks so I shall buy 4

For fabric conditioner I use Fairy @ £2.00 for 750ml which at the mo are buy one get one free so going to buy 2 lots which would normally last me 1month but because of the offer I shall get 2 months worth.:T

Toilet roll, I always buy value as dont see the point of spending money on expensive stuff when it just gets flushed down the toilet. 1pk of 12 @ £1.17 this normally last me near on 2 weeks so going to buy 6 packs

Teabags, Normally buy PG tips but have tried Tescos label and liked them so have decided to stick with them.
At the mo they are on offer @ 99p for 80 so going to buy 5 boxes

The above is all I can think of at the mo so need some ideas on the types of things that you all buy in bulk

Thankyou very much x :)

Teabags, tinned tomatoes/passata, baked beans, UHT milk, cat food

Basically, everyday items so try to stock up so last for ages
  • You could buy a few extra loaves of bread and put them in the freezer if you have a big freezer?

You should try to get lots of bottles or cans of drink if you have children as well (which I'm guessing you do from your username)

If you buy crisps, try to get as many packs of those as you can too. You can get them pretty cheaply if you buy homebrand.

Pasta pasta pasta!! Pasta is the way forward, honestly. Lasagne, spaghetti and the twizzly ones are slightly more expensive but stock up on shells and twists and honestly eat it with everything.
    End of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt :(
    Today's total: £7,297.06 :o

When mccleans toothpaste or Johnsons body wash is on bogof - I usually stock up - and toothbrushes are replaced with expensive ones on bogof.

I buy washingup liquid when on offer too.

And OH's and the boys deodorant is often on offer.

We don't have much room to keep large food stocks though.

value loo roll vs loo roll with a puppy attached.....

The puppy type loo roll very often has an offer of buy 2 packs of 9 rolls for about 6 quid and it does have more paper per roll so tends to last longer than value brands.

Buying the value brand isnt always the most cost effective option, if you see the puppy rolls on offer I would say give them a try and see how long they last vs value brands.

I find the same with washing up liquid, the value options require much more liquid per wash since they are a little watery, so the more expensive brands work out more cost effective.

I agree with the fact that the more expensive loo roll lasts longer but it also tends to block the loo up more than the value stuff so you might have to buy more drain unblocker.

Have always bought the puppy one and the only time I've had a blocked loo was in the downstairs loo when there were tree roots growing through the drains and that was about 12 years ago......so not convinced about this!
