That's not a bad idea lucielle. I also plan to buy myself treats to reward me for not smoking and pay some of it towards debt. As usual, I've spent it 3 times in my head. :rotfl:I need to make a decision and in the mean time it'll probably end up mixed in with debt payments.
I have a matched bet on the go that should win me a £50 free bet. I've decided to do one at a time to stop me getting muddled up.
I've been menu planning and am off to cook some chilli for the freezer and some biscuits for the tin.
OH has gotten on board and taken charge of the scratchcards and ebaying. :j Brilliant. Everything's so much nicer with two. (quote from piglet...can't remember the exact phrase).
I'm dreading phoning the garage on Monday but an MOT needs to be arranged. I can't leave it 'til the last minute 'cos it will fail and I don't want to risk ending up with no car. I'd also rather know now how much it's going to cost!Debt @ Dec 2009 £10,026.05

So today I decided to take on the snow. I have a full week of work ahead of me, I really need the money and I figured if I'm brave I can head out in this crazy weather.
To start with, the car doors were frozen shut. Nothing some hot water couldn't sort out though.
Then the car wouldn't move so I got the shovel out and dug some space to roll back and forward and build up momentum. It worked. I got the car moving.
I then took off down the track in what seemed much more like sledging than driving. Our track is about 1/3 of a mile long and has one bend in it and a small slope up before you reach the road. I just skidded my way down it and thought thank god it's sunday morning and if I burst onto the road, unable to stop, at least it's less likely any other traffic will be around.
When I reached the wee slope there was much wheel spinning, slush flying and burning smell (from the clutch?) before I made it onto the road. And thankfully there was no traffic.
So I'm feeling quite smug, skidding along on black ice, kidding myself I'm in control of the car and ignoring the fact that the only other traffic I can see is a 4x4 and a tractor with enormous tyres. I slipped and slid along to my local village, I'm nearly at the shop, I'm looking for somewhere to park and there's ice everywhere.
Then I see this old man. He's walking along the single track road 'cos the pavement is thick with ice and he's carrying a pint of milk and 2 rolls in a bag. I know I can't control the car and as soon as I see him I'm all 'oh my god I'm going to hit him'. He looks up and sees me but can't get to the pavement fast enough. I skid past, missing him by a fraction of an inch and the kerb stops me in my tracks. And I burst into tears.
Why is it I always forget, in dodgy weather conditions, that it's not just me at risk, it's other people too? I was imagining this man's wife waiting at home, thinking he was just brilliant for braving the weather so she could have a nice breakfast. And what exactly was I trying to prove by going out? I could've walked there (may have taken a while but it's only a couple of miles) but didn't.
Anyway, he gave me a wave and kept walking while I gathered my nerves to go into the shop then drive home. I feel like an idiot. Was it all worth it? No.
So I'm well and truly snowed in and if I miss work next week, well at least I've not killed anyone by skidding about on the roads.Debt @ Dec 2009 £10,026.05

We all have near misses esp in this weather.
on the positive side you dident hit the man & he gave you a cheery wave.
All in all well done you for feeling the fear & doing it anyway

Sending lots of hugs. I am such a nervous wreck in the snow. I doubt whether the chaps will be back at school tomorrow, which means I won't be able to work either.

I've just checked the weather forecast, hoping for a thaw, and discovered it's going to be -16 tonight.
This week, on top of my usual work, I have a mystery shop to do and two new clients starting. It's a busy week for me and I've spent so long trying to build up business, now that it's happening I really want to be there to do it.
But this snow is really messing things up...I'm so fed up with it.
Do I risk going out in it and potentially injuring somone? Like myself, or that man today? Or do I stay at home and get a week behind with debt repayments?
Maybe I should stay at home this time and save up for some snow chain things for my tyres for next year. Anyone used these before? Do they actually work?Debt @ Dec 2009 £10,026.05

It's still freezing here with no sign of a thaw. I phoned to cancel my mystery shop and managed to get it rescheduled for a week on Friday. Wonder if the roads will be better by then? I hope so.
Matched betting on the go today and also managed to withdraw £15 from bingo britain. Don't ask me how that happened when the amount is supposed to have gone up to £50. I'm not complaining though.
I'm going to check the forecast again and possibly cancel all my work tomorrow. Evidently this freeze may last well into next week.
Good job I have loads of dvd box sets. Me and OH have been snuggling up watching lots of telly. I can't remember being this relaxed any time recently. Although I'm worried about work, I'm still enjoying this time off.
And I'm still off the cigarettes. Yey!
Not much else to report. Have a fab day everyone.
