My first post asks if the first 4 numbers supplied indicate a Halifax Visa card.

Your first post refers to the ICO. Nil points.

Your second post refers to County Court. Nil points.

All I wanted was a yes or a no to confirm that the 16 digit number I had was Halifax.

Now come on Natwest, do you really think Mr/Mrs Credit Card Scam was trying to be helpful? From your position in a bank, ex or otherwise do you really think that armed with the word "yes" I can help myself to someones funds?

Your real calling must be as a politician. Inability to answer straight questions is highly regarded in that field.

So in summary none out three.

    Jesus...

second line of your first post
"The ****'s are claiming they can't find my old account." (is that not a Data Protection Act 1998 issue?)
Who do you complain to on DPA issues? That'll be the ICO.
What if you can't wait for them to deal with a DPA 1998 issue? Then you sue the FI for non compliance.
So I am not sure I was trying to score any points with anybody. I think Merlinexcalibur is the only person who can explain his/her reasoning. You will be amazed what you can find on the web these days.

You can continue to throw things at me by the way, been on these forums long enough to have thick skin. When you need more help and cannot find it from a google search then by all means I will help as much as I can if I can.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

Nasty man is off on holiday with his ill gotten gains.

Evil laugh, swishes cape and exits stage left.
  • Just a quick message in a simular thread... I am currently trying to find out my account numbers from old accounts which are now closed and not having any luck! They say that if I just put my address then this should sufice to get my list of charges. I'm wondering if this is really true...

Who is the card provider? I had cards with Barclaycard, Halifax and MBNA and the first two said that old customer details had been wiped off their main system and the archives could only be accessed by using the account numbers. I know that MBNA still have details on their main system as I managed to get the number off them over the phone. I did talk to the information commissioner who said that a complaint could be registered against the two providers who were denying access as they thought they were being unreasonable. I was lucky to have old card vouchers in my old self employed records.

I had previously tried an credit report but no card numbers.

I would suggest a sar request using full name, d.o.b, previous addresses and approx dates of opening and closing. Send your cheque for the fee and give them 40 days. If nothing is forthcoming or they say they can't find your account lodge your complaint with the ICO.

    GOOD LUCK!
  • I've sent off the letters so we'll see what happens :)
